Mirror Mirror by Marilyn Singer is my next favorite poetry book. This book will blow your mind! Each poem can be read forwards or backwards, each time presenting a different point of view. Amazing! Some of your kids might be brave enough to try this strategy in their own poetry.

Shake Dem Halloween Bones 0001
Shake Dem Halloween Bones is a great way to incorporate choral reading into the classroom. Students will love this book because they will all have the opportunity to participate, practicing reading without even realizing it! "These programs should be used as basals with the understanding that additional books and tools are necessary to equip students for literacy success." - Using Basal Readers Page 4 Choral reading experiences are just one way to enhance basal instruction.

Reader's Theater Blog Series, Day 3: Choral Read and Table Read A choral-read is a group read-aloud. Students get to practice a range of expressiveness, pausing, pacing, and other aspects of fluency. A table read is the first time students sit down together to read their individual parts. Reading pedagogy refers to this initial practice session as the first repeated reading; I prefer the term “table read” as that is what professional theater people call it
