Second World War period Imperial Japanese Army medical orderly's pouch. Japan's provision of care for its wounded and sick soldiers in the field was woeful compared to that of the Allies, although some personnel were assigned to carry out medical duties. Casualties were notoriously neglected and as the war continued many wounded Japanese soldiers were often left to die with a hand grenade or shot by their own side.
