Murano Art Glass Sommerso Cobalt Blue & Emerald Green Twist Vase, Vintage

This exquisite Mid-Century Modern vase was realized in Murano, Italy, the Venetian islands renowned for their quality glass production for centuries. It features a translucent glass base with raised and rounded seams undulating along the perimeter. Colored glass occupies the center of the piece, in a gradient of emerald transitioning to a rich sapphire/cobalt blue at the top. The form is reminiscent of a tulip with its six petal-like forms. This is a first-rate example of handblown Murano glass from the period that would be equally well suited for use as a functional vase. Excellent condition. Italy.
