Product Details
This is a handmade wooden spatula carved from various hardwoods. We have temporarily changed our processing time. Your order will ship in approximately a week and a half. So, if you need something soon, it will not arrive in time. We are temporarily changing our processing time because we have to take a trip. We will set it at two to three weeks. You can purchase things, but they will not ship until we get back. We would rather do this than put our shop on vacation. It is 11 inches long and 3 3/8 inches wide. This comes in a right and left handed version. Unfortunately I can only have 10 photos so I can't link a picture to each wood option for left and right so I've included a photo of the left and right handed versions side by side. The left is just the mirror image of the right. It is a reproduction of a much loved spatula. The ones pictured are examples. The one you receive will vary a little in grain and color. See the options menu for available wood species. If you don't see the species you want contact us and tell us to get our butts in gear and make some. The handle is curved and this tool comes in a left and right handed version. See side by side photo. The front edge is set at about a 15% angle. the top of the blade is flat and the bottom is slightly curved so that the edges are thin, especially along the front edge. The flat front edge is great for chopping ground meat in the pan which is one thing I use my spatulas for a lot. I like to turn the spatula upside down and use that front edge to scramble eggs. This utensil is "pre-washed" so to speak. The grain has been raised with water during the finishing process to remove any loose fiber ends so the spoon will remain smooth after you use it. Care is easy, just wash in hot soapy water, towel dry, and apply some mineral oil or walnut oil every couple of weeks or you can buy some of our spoon oil finish which is Beeswax and mineral oil. A 4 oz. jar lasts for a long time and it will help to keep your spoon looking and feeling good for many years. You can make your own by melting 1 part beeswax into 3 parts mineral oil in a double boiler. It should be the consistency of Chap Stick when it cools. I recommend applying the wax with a pad of 0000 steel wood. This is a very fine abrasive which will remove any loose fibers that have risen and will keep your tool as smooth as it can be, which makes cleaning easier. I've got some tools that are 20 years old and get used almost every day and they have held up beautifully using this treatment. Legacy.
