2024 is looking set to be an absolutely cracking year for gamers with some long-awaited highlights set to release in the next twelve months. PlayStation 5 owners in particular can look forward to a batch of exclusives including Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade, and Rise of the Ronin, but then there’s a third party and multi-platform games from Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and Dragon’s Dogma 2 to Star Wars Outlaws.
We’ve collated a huge set of 30 of the biggest games for PS5 in the coming year.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
PS5, XSX|S, PS4, XBO, NSW, PC – 18th January 2024
Ubisoft is sprucing up a classic gaming series with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, turning it back into a side-scroller, but with Metroidvania elements thrown in alongside. You’re cast, not as a prince, but as one of the Immortals who’s trying to rescue the prince, who’s been kidnapped and taken to Mount Qaf. Expect plenty of enemies to battle, traps to evade and some bombastic bosses along the way!
A demo will be available from 11th January, so this is definitely one to check out in a couple weeks!
The Last of Us Part II Remastered
PS5 – 19th January 2024
Still riding the highs of the HBO TV show and The Last of Us Part I remaster, the sequel is also being spruced up and improved for the PlayStation 5. The Last of Us Part II Remastered will feature improved graphics and modes to take advantage of the PS5 hardware, some new Lost Levels to explore, and the roguelite mode No Return.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
PS5, XSX|S, PS4, XBO, PC – 26th January 2024
The Like a Dragon series (formerly Yakuza) is jet setting off to Hawaii and leaving Japanese shores for the first time. Ichiban Kasuga is on a mission to find his mother, Akane Kishida, and Kazuma Kiryu is also looking for her, taking on what will probably be his last ever job. The pair will team up in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and we can expect plenty of turn-based RPG battling, as in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, a whole host of quirky minigames, and a brand new island management mode called Happy Resort Dondoko.
Tekken 8
PS5, XSX|S, PC – 26th January 2024
It’s been a good long time since the last game in the series, but Tekken 8 is now so close you can practically taste it – some even have, thanks to the demo in December. This game brings a new heat system, a modified Rage Art system that uses common inputs, and a recover gauge that’s seemingly drawn from the Tekken Tag Tournament games. Of course, there’s also the use of Unreal Engine 5, which is allowing for some stunning visuals.
Persona 3 Reload
PS5, XSX|S, PS4, XBO, PC – 2nd February 2024
Persona 3 Reload takes the PS2 and PSP JRPG and remakes it for modern consoles. As with all the Persona games, you’re sent off to school and making friends during the day, before indulging in the supernatural at night as part of the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad (SEES), explore a hidden world called the “Dark Hour” and battling the Shadows that prey on the minds of humans.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
PS5, XSX|S, PC – 2nd February 2024
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will put you in the boots of a villainous foursome, forced by the government to try and save Metropolis from the machinations of Brainiac by defeating the brainwashed Justice League. After long delays and unpopular gameplay reveals, this one might have some convincing to do, but with Rocksteady behind it, it could absolutely make a splash when it’s out in February.
Helldivers 2
PS5, PC – 8th February 2024
Helldivers is making a comeback, but where the original game was a top-down shooter, Helldivers 2 is going all in on third person shooter action. You’ll get much, much closer to the action thanks to this, visiting varied planets that look simply gorgeous, taking on objectives and battling hordes of alien monsters! Make sure to pick your Stratagems wisely, and use them with care, because “friendly” fire is turned on.
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden
PS5, XSX|S, PC – 13th February 2024
Banishers is a dark fantasy tale of love and loss. Red Mac Raith is tasked with protect the land from spirits, curses and ghosts, using both martial skills and supernatural ones, but he has a secret, as his beloved Antea passed away and cannot bring himself to banish her as well. In action, you can control both Red and Antea, shifting between the physical and spectral in combat and while exploring the world. It’s a compelling concept and setting, and with Don’t Nod’s storytelling chops, we’re excited to play more.

Skull and Bones
PS5, XSX|S, PS4, XBO, PC – 16th February 2024
Is Skull and Bones finally happening? Is it actually coming out this time? We certainly hope so! This sea-faring game of piracy has been in the works for around a decade, and we finally went hands on with what we hope is the final beta test at the end of last year. Truth be told, we came away hoping that the full game is a better experience than the first few hours would suggest.
Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster
PS5, XSX|S, PS4, XBO, NSW, PC – 28th February 2024
Star Wars: Dark Forces is one of the highlights of Star Wars’ proud tradition of video games. Following in the footsteps of Doom and Marathon, it was a first person shooter that put a blaster in your hands and sent you off on missions to foil the Empire’s latest dastardly plots – namely the rising threat of Dark Troopers. This remaster by Nightdive Studios, will keep a hold of the original art style and graphics, but update it with support for 4K resolutions, widescreens and 60fps.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
PS5 – 29th February 2024
The middle chapter in the remake trilogy, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth sees the gang journey out into the wider world for the first time, uncovering more of the history and misdeeds of Shinra and what Sephiroth is now up to. This sequel will build on FF7 Remake’s action RPG combat with new party combo abilities and attacks, while also adding more open world segments that you can explore on the back of a Chocobo.
We’ve been hands on with the game late last year and got to play the Fated Mt. Nibel Mission that flashed back to a time before, as well as set foot in Under Junon.
Expeditions: A MudRunner Game
PS5, XSX|S, PC – 5th March 2024
In the realms of video games, MudRunner was practically unique. A driving game where the idea isn’t to zoom around at well above the speed limit, pulling ridiculous drifts and bashing into your rivals? Expeditions: A MudRunner Game takes that foundation of wilderness driving and pushes it in a new direction, giving you tools like an Echo Sounder to map depths of water bodies, new winch and tyre pressure mechanics, and drones to scout from the sky.

Outcast: A New Beginning
PS5, XSX|S, PC – 15th March 2024
Outcast: A New Beginning revives the world and setting of the 1999 cult classic original, but aims to redefine what an open world game can be with a deeply systemic approach. You’ll be helping the native Talan lead a resistant fight against hostile robot invaders, fostering settlements to regrow, and then having the chance to, for example, hatch an egg found in the wild, nurture the offspring within, and then ride the giant flying creature it turns into into battle against the robots once more.
Alone in the Dark
PS5, XSX|S, PC – 20th March 2024
Reviving one of the earliest survival horror games over 30 years on from its debut is a daunting task, effectively amounting to a full reinvention of the game given how far video games have advanced in terms of storytelling, visuals and gameplay in that time.
Alone in the Dark will allow you to play as Emily Hartwood (Jodie Comer) and Detective Edward Carnby (David Harbour) as they explore Derceto Manor and the surrounding setting in 1920s southern America. With hefty helpings of noir and Lovecraftian horror thrown in, horror fans will surely be curious to see how this one holds up.
Dragon’s Dogma 2
PS5, XSX|S, PC – 22nd March 2024
Dragon’s Dogma 2 has been a long time coming, but will continue the legacy of one of the best new action RPGs in recent times. As before, there’s lashings of Dark Souls and Monster Hunter in the mix, alongside the unique Pawn system for the AI-controlled party members. We can’t wait to sink into this game’s world, which promises to be four times bigger than the original.
Rise of the Ronin
PS5 – 22nd March 2024
Rise of the Ronin will see players step into the shoes of a wandering samurai during the late-Edo period of 19th century Japan. Amidst the fall of the Tokugawa Shogunate, your mercenary sword will have plenty of work to do, forging a path through the world, picking factions to ally yourself with (and in turn decide the fate of the nation).
This PlayStation 5 exclusive is sure to be like catnip to those who loved the US-made PS exclusive Ghost of Tsushima, but will be delving into a rather different part of history. It will also deliver a very different experience to the mythology-infused soulslike action of Team Ninja’s Nioh series.
SaGa Emerald Beyond
PS5, PS4, NSW, PC, iOS, Android – 25th April 2024
The next game in the long-running RPG series, SaGa Emerald Beyond will lean into everything that the series is best known for, with a cast of six different characters that have stories taking them through seventeen interconnected worlds. Leading the way, is Tsunanori Mido, a magically gifted fellow who’s been tasked with restoring balance between these worlds, but we’ve also got vampire lords, witches, singing robots and rookie police officers.
Destiny 2: The Final Shape
PS5, XSX|S, PS4, XBO, PC – 4th June 2024
Destiny 2: The Final Shape looks set to bring an end to the first ten years of Destiny, with a final confrontation with The Witness, the big bad who has been pulling strings behind the scenes since the very beginning of the online shooter’s tale. Players will be delving into The Pale Heart, located inside the Traveller itself, and a place that will feature call backs and the return of some beloved characters. Can this see the game go out with a bang after the disappointment of the Lightfall yearly expansion?
Black Myth Wukong
PS5, XSX|S, PC – 20th August 2024
Inspired by the 16th century Chinese novel “Journey to The West” by Wu Cheng’en, Black Myth Wukong has been adapted and twisted into a Souls-like, as we’ve seen in recent times with other myths, like Lies of P and the Pinocchio story. There’s some really impressive and distinctive looking characters and creatures here that will stand out from the crowd.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2
PS5, XSX|S, PC – 9th September 2024
Captain Titus returns after more than a decade in Space Marine 2, with the iconic Warhammer 40,000 super soldier now set to face off against the chitinous hordes of a full Tyranid invasion fleet. Coming from Saber Interactive, we’re expecting to see vast hordes of enemies on screen, given what they managed to do in World War Z.

EDF 6
PS5, PS4, PC – Spring 2024
Set a few years after the Earth Defense Force was able to stave off the alien invasion in the last game (albeit at the cost of 90% of the world population) that threat is returning, for another go. Expect plenty of classic EDF action, marshalling the troops against impossible waves of gigantic enemies.
Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown
PS5, XSX|S, PC – Early 2024
Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown wants to be a car MMO that’s about more than just racing with a social aspect that runs throughout the game. Set on a recreation of Hong Kong Island and giving you the keys to a range of super and hyper cars, you’ll be devote your racing exploits the Streets or the Sharps. We’re looking forward to seeing how this one comes together.
Foamstars
PS5, PS4– Early 2024
Blending Splatoon with night club foam parties, Foamstars is a 4v4 online shooter that’s all about covering the world with your team’s colour of foam, and using it to surf around at high speed. We’re looking forward to seeing if Square Enix can out-do Nintendo.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2
PS5, XSX|S, PC – Late 2024
The nightlife of Seattle is about to be upset by a three-way struggle for power in the Vampire Court and you’ll be right at the heart of it. Coming from The Chinese Room, after development was completely rebooted a few years ago, this aims to be a worthy successor to the cult classic action RPG.
Stellar Blade
PS5 – 2024
Coming from Korean developer Shift Up, Stellar Blade features fast-paced action RPG combat that will bring to mind Bayonetta and Nier Automata. You’ll be playing as Eve as she’s deployed to Earth to fight back against an alien race called NA:tives, but in the process discovers the last surviving human city of Xion and has to defend it.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
PS5, XSX|S, PC – 2024
Remaking the classic PS2 stealth action game, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater promises a huge upgrade in visuals thanks to the use of Unreal Engine 5. We’ve yet to really see much actual gameplay from this game, but the snippets featured in the first in-engine look seem pretty promising.
Silent Hill 2
PS5, PC – 2024
Having made a name for themselves with their home grown psychological horror games Layers of Fear and Observer, Bloober Team is now in charge of the Silent Hill 2 remake. They’re leaning on Unreal Engine 5 for the job, with all the latest graphical effects, but we’re hoping to see More contemporary character controls, greater depth to the graphics through the use of Unreal Engine 5, and hopefully a few updates and changes to bring something new to the story and how its told.
The Wolf Among Us 2
PS5, XSX|S, PS4, XBO, PC – 2024
The Wolf Among Us 2 has been in and out of development for years, a sequel to one of Telltale’s most widely celebrated series. The studio and team was reborn a few years ago, and the release was delayed to make the jump to UE5, but we’re still expecting to get the next chapter in Bigby and Snow White’s story this year.
The Plucky Squire
PS5, XSX|S, NSW, PC – 2024
There’s a childlike wonder to The Plucky Squire, as Jot adventures through the pages of a colourful children’s book, protecting the land from a villainous sorcerer. Except, Jot’s journey won’t just be confined to the papery sheets. No, he’ll be able to leap out into the 3D world and adventure there as well. We can’t wait to see more of this inventive adventure.

The Casting of Frank Stone
PS5, XSX|S, PC – 2024
The Casting of Frank Stone might sound like a rather bland Hollywood audition process, but it’s anything but. A single-player spin-off to Dead by Daylight, this game is coming from they purveyors of horror narratives at Supermassive Games, the makers of Until Dawn, The Quarry and The Dark Pictures Anthology.
But who is Frank Stone? Well, he’s not one of the base characters from Dead by Daylight, but rather a new creation specifically for this game, and potentially a way to expand the popular multiplayer horror game beyond the myriad of crossover events that Behaviour Interactive are constantly cooking up.
Star Wars Outlaws
PS5, XSX|S, PC – 2024
Star Wars Outlaws looks like a dream come true for Star Wars fans. Set between the events of Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, Kay Vess is trying to pull off one of the biggest heists ever in the Outer Rim, journeying across multiple huge open world planets and taking on jobs for seedy cartels and gangs to get it done. We can’t wait!
