Ubisoft has revealed a roadmap of incoming updates, modes and DLC for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, building up to new story DLC later in 2024. Outside of the new story DLC, all of this will be delivered through free title updates, which is a lovely touch.

The first new content will arrive next week on 20th March with a new Speedrun mode, a Permadeath mode and four new outfits for Sargon.

This will be followed later in the spring with a Boss Attack mode and more new outfits for Sargon, before the Summer brings new Divine Trials, which will feature new combat, platform and puzzle challenges, along with more new amultes, outfits and other surprises.

However, the biggest draw back to the game will surely be in the story DLC currently expected later this year. This paid DLC will bring “multiple hours of content” and includes a new storyline, environments and enemies.

How Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is steeped in Persian mythology

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown was a wonderful surprise to start the year, with Ubisoft Montpellier taking the series back to its side-scrolling roots with a fresh influx of ideas from the modern Metroidvania. Starring Sargon (who is not a prince), you’re off on a mission to rescue a kidnapped member of the royal family (who is a prince). This takes you to the mysterious Mount Qaf, which is filled with unusual foes and time-wimey problems to overcome.

In our The Lost Crown Review, Ade said, “Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is one of the finest metroidvanias I’ve ever played and a fantastic way to start 2024. Thrilling and kinetic platforming, thumping combat, and a vast game world that demands exploration, and makes it a joy to do. It’s time to kick nostalgia firmly in the unmentionables; this is the best Prince of Persia ever.”
