The Rainbow Bridge is a location in Ocarina of Time.[1]It is a temporary bridge conjured using the power of the Six Sages in order to help Link, the Hero of Time, reach the final dungeon, Ganon's Castle.[2]
Features and Overview[]
The bridge is created by the Sages when Link arrives at Ganon's Castle after Princess Zelda's capture in order to rescue her from Ganondorf's clutches. Rauru calls out to Link once he gets to the front of the castle gates, and tells Link the way to save Zelda.[3] Using their combined power in the form of colored orbs, the Sages then create a glass-like bridge resembling a real rainbow, allowing the Hero of Time to proceed and enter the castle.
When the castle eventually collapses following Ganondorf's defeat and during the final battle against Ganon himself, the Rainbow Bridge is no longer visible by the former entrance.
In Ocarina of Time 3D, the Rainbow Bridge was redesigned to have different textures and guardrails to prevent Link from accidentally falling off its edges.
Trivia[]
- The color of the Rainbow Bridge in the original Nintendo 64 game is based on the colors representing the Six Sages.
- The Rainbow Bridge's appearance is likely inspired by the Mario Kart series' Rainbow Road from the Super Mario franchise, as such courses are made out of translucent rainbow colored roads.
