Toxic Water is a recurring trap in The Legend of Zelda series.[1] Toxic Water goes unnamed in Ocarina of Time 3D, Majora's Mask, Oracle of Ages, and Four Swords Adventures.

Location and uses[]

Toxic Water is a poisonous type of Water that slowly drains Link's health while he is in it.

Mainline appearances[]

Ocarina of Time[]

Toxic Water first appears in Ocarina of Time. It drains Link's health slowly and is a murky green color. It is first encountered in the Royal Family's Tomb which Sharp and Flat guard. It also appears in various other areas, such as the Bottom of the Well.

Majora's Mask[]

Toxic Water also appears in Majora's Mask, where it can be found in the some places at the Southern Swamp area, along with the Woodfall area, and in the Woodfall Temple. This causes damage to Link's health, but may be safely hopped across with Deku Link.

Oracle of Ages[]

The polluted Zora Seas in Oracle of Ages were green and lumpy until Link assisted the Great Fairy in cleansing them. If Link tries to swim through the Toxic Water, he will be injured and be pushed back.

Four Swords Adventures[]

In Four Swords Adventures, Toxic Water appears purple in color in The Swamp. The Links may pass through Toxic Water, but this takes away their health in the process.

Trivia[]

  • A toxic water variant was planned for Breath of the Wild, but was cut for unknown reasons. Some still exists in-game, albeit far under the normal boundaries of the game's terrain.[2]
