Sleezenose is a character featured in the "Stinging a Stinger" episode of The Legend of Zelda TV series. He specializes in peddling[1] and is known to be a conman.[2]
Biography[]
Sleezenose is first introduced when Link saves him from men who were trying to steal his money. Sleezenose thanks the young hero for his help and offers to give him a free Sword as a sign of gratitude.[3] Although Link at first hesitates to trade it in for his Crissword,[4] Sleezenose explains that anyone who carries his sword is made irresistible to women, especially princesses.[5] This convinces Link and immediately hands over his old sword when he hears Princess Zelda screaming for help.[6] After Link leaves, it is revealed that Sleezenose had a deal with the three burly men who were harassing him and gives them the money for helping him get the sword from Link.[7]
Later on in the episode, Sleezenose tries to sell Link's sword to Ganon for 1000 Rubies,[8] but the evil wizard disagrees and simply takes it from Sleezenose's hands with no reward.[9] Moreover, he orders the Moblins to throw Sleezenose, Link and Zelda into Gohma's lair.[10] The heroes defeat Gohma while Sleezenose opens the gate, allowing them to exit back into the Overworld as they think of a plan to defeat Ganon.[11]
Sleezenose helps Link and Zelda with their plan of besting Ganon while using "natural means" as explained by the Triforce of Wisdom.[12] He retrieves two beehives and, when Link sees that Ganon is approaching the castle with the sword in hand, Sleezenose walks towards the evil wizard and pretends to be offering a box with the Triforce of Wisdom as a sign of loyalty to him.[13] Sleezenose walks away as Ganon opens the box, which actually contains one of the beehives. After Ganon is defeated, Link realizes that Sleezenose is gone and discovers that he took the Triforce of Wisdom while they were fighting Ganon.[14] However, Zelda then reveals that she hid the Triforce underneath Link's pile of dirty clothes and that she had asked Spryte earlier on to cast a spell on the box with the ant hill.[15] Sleezenose is then shown carrying the supposed Triforce of Wisdom only for him to discover that he had been tricked. He runs away as the ants bite him.
