The latest installment of the Assassin's Creed series definitely doesn't have it easy. The first demonstration of Shadows sparked a variety of reactions among players, largely because of one of the two main characters - Yasuke, a powerful samurai from Africa. It turns out that some fans are also not entirely satisfied with the second character, the shinobi Naoe. In the case of a woman, however, it's not her skin color that causes dissatisfaction, but her outfit.

Naoe's costume in the final version of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows will resemble the wardrobe seen in other games from the series about assassins. We have here a typical assassin's hood, a wide belt, and a few red accents. The issue is that the first concept art portrayed the main character in a completely different way. Her outfit used to resemble the style of a ninja.

Under the post comparing both versions shared by one of the Internet users on Reddit, there were many comments from people who liked the original idea of Ubisoft's designers much better. In their opinion, the new concept fits the series, but the older one would bring some freshness to the style known to fans. You can read some sample comments below.

I vastly prefer the ninja looking one -- IIZANAGII.

One on the right is leagues better imo -- MercinwithaMouth.

The generic one is MUCH better, she looks deadly and stealthy. The new one looks more like an Assassin(From the series), due to the blues, wider robes and hood blended with a Ninja. So yeah, the current design is more appropriate for the series, but the older design was much cooler -- SoupyStain.

Eh, I much prefer the one on the right. It looks more Japanese, especially with the mask -- HibasakiSanjuro.

It's important to keep in mind that there are also comments from users who praise Ubisoft's decision. According to them, the final design of the shinobi looks more realistic, as it allows for better blending into the crowd, thus fulfilling its purpose well.

Assassin's Creed: Shadows will be released on November 15 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
