Update

The Warsaw-based studio Deep Water announced the release date of the full version of the game UBOAT. The submarine simulator will leave the early access phase on August 2 this year. You can read about the new features in version 1.0 below, in the original news. By the way, the developer has published a new trailer:

Original news

The premiere of version 1.0 of the game UBOAT, which has been in early access for 5 years, is fast approaching. However, before the developers from the Warsaw-based Deep Water studio release the full version, players can try out the upcoming new features.

To launch the beta version, you need to open the game library on Steam, then select UBOAT from the list and right-click on it. In the open properties window, you should select the "Beta" option, then in the "Beta participation" section, click "Unstable" and download the beta.

The developers also published a list of sample attractions that are available to players in the beta.

  1. New playable U-Boats of type IIA, IID, VIIB, and VIIC41.
  2. New and modernized ports.
  3. Graphically updated U-Boot Type VII.
  4. Improved night battles.
  5. Improved FPP mode.
  6. Improvements of ships and airplanes.
  7. Added random events on the ship.
  8. Graphic fixes and improvements.
  9. New starting scenarios.
  10. Performance (support for FSR and DLSS).
  11. New cutscenes on the map.
  12. Interactions with shipwrecks.

Due to the fact that this isn't the final update 1.0 yet, there might be some errors that players need to report for them to be eliminated in the full version of UBOAT 1.0. More details about the beta can be found on Steam. The developers will release the full list of changes in the coming days.

The devs from Deep Water studio haven't yet announced the release date for UBOAT from early access, but given the current status of the game's development, it's anticipated to be a matter of the next few weeks.

Numbers on Steam and sale on GOG

SteamDB charts show that fans were eager to participate in the tests. Shortly after the release of the beta, the number of players jumped from around 500 people to almost 2,000 at its peak. It's not an impressive achievement (the game's record "peak" is 5755 players playing simultaneously), but it's important to note that this is a relatively niche title.

In conclusion, it's worth mentioning that you can buy the game UBOAT on Steam for $29.99. Much cheaper, at $9.55 (-65% discount), you can also purchase it on GOG, although beta-testing is probably taking place only on Valve's platform. This promotion will end tomorrow, May 30th.
