Hanif Yusuf is a Sri Lankan businessman, entrepreneur, and the current governor of the Western Province of Sri Lanka.[1][2] He is also the co-founder of Expolanka Holdings PLC.[3]
Early life and education
[edit]Hanif Yusuf was born in Kollupitiya in 1958, to Gujurati Parents.His family immigrated just prior to partition of India, His Grandfather become citizens at the suggestion of Prime Minister John Kotelawala, who he had met playing cards. Yusuf was educated at the prestigious Royal College.[4]
Career
[edit]Yusuf cofounded ExpoLanka Holdings PLC and under his leadership grew it to become largest company by market capitalisation in Sri Lanka.[5]
Governor of Western Province (2024–present)

After the election of Anura Kumara Dissanayake as president in the 2024 Sri Lankan presidential election, Hanif Yusuf was appointed as Governor of the Western Province on 28 September 2024.
