Deletion nomination retracted

[edit]

Just thought I'd let you know, I've retracted my deletion nominations after I completed a more in depth review of your edits and your global contributions. Sorry for any inconveniences I may have caused. I've also looked at your course page, and I agree that this project would be beneficial to Wikipedia. Once again, sorry for any trouble. Also, if your students have any questions or need any help, they're free to message me on my talk page or use of the {{helpme}} template to get help. Thanks for your contributions, and happy editing! No problem. Thanks for the note. --dave pape (talk) 12:01, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted the images you disputed

[edit]

On my talk page you contested two images I inserted in the article "University Village, Chicago". I have now deleted them. This was the first article into which I inserted images so its frustrating to have to delete them but the exercise has been very educative so thanks for taking the time to explain the issues for me. [edit]

Dave, I see you marked my photo of Valentina Tereshkova for deletion. That's my own photo of a print from the Soviet 1963 original. I think it's safe to call that public domain, right? How do I add that tag? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Joshua A.C. Newman (talkcontribs) 08:24, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Recent image deletion

[edit]

Per this conversation, if you used that rationale then all the images of pre-1923 published books would have to be deleted. Are you sure this is policy? If so, could you please post these policies to relevant wikiprojects such as Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels. Since you didn't, I will, but this effects the book people greatly, so let's talk about it. Thanks. Truthkeeper88 (talk) 18:13, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Responded on User talk:J Milburn. Note that I'm on vacation and expect to be offline for the next couple weeks, and so might not be able to reply further for a while. --dave pape (talk) 18:23, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Request for deletion of photos - Werner G Jeanrond.jpg

[edit]

Dave, please go ahread and delete all photos associated with this image entry. I have uploaded a free use photo given to me by Werner Jeanrond to use in place of the copyright photo - it is uploaded as werner jeanrond.jpg and will replace the image uploaded as werner g jeanrond.jpg. My attempts to replace/overwrite the copyright photo failed and created duplicate images. As I am not an administrator, I cannot delete these copyright image. Althea Gibson

Althea Gibson (1927–2003) was an American tennis player and professional golfer, and one of the first Black athletes to cross the color line of international tennis. On May 27, 1956, she became the first African American to win a Grand Slam title (the French Championships). The following year she won both Wimbledon and the US Nationals (precursor of the US Open), then won both again in 1958 and was voted Female Athlete of the Year by the Associated Press in both years. In all, she won 11 Grand Slam tournaments: five singles titles, five doubles titles, and one mixed doubles title. In the early 1960s she also became the first Black player to compete on the Women's Professional Golf Tour.
