Paul Kevin Rugg (born October 21, 1960) is an American screenwriter, producer, voice actor, and puppeteer. He is best known for his writing and voice-acting work on Animaniacs and Freakazoid!. Some of his voice-acting highlights include Mr. Director and Albert Einstein in Animaniacs, Mr. Sultana on Pinky and the Brain, and Freakazoid himself. He also voiced The Dark Lord Chuckles the Silly Piggy, from Disney's Dave the Barbarian.
He reunited with various Animaniacs crew members to work on the Disney animated series, The 7D. He also voiced Cricket from Nickelodeon's Pig Goat Banana Cricket.
According to Rugg, he was offered to return as a writer for the new Animaniacs reboot series but declined as he felt his role on discovering the characters and setting the show in stone was already fulfilled from working on the original show. [1] Archival audio of his performance of Mr. Clown was used in Fear and Laughter in Burbank, and returned to voice Mr. Clown in The Stickening.[2]
