Silence, Pinky. My work begins! This article and/or section is currently under construction. Any help to expand information on pages like these is greatly appreciated by the Animaniacs Wiki.
"The Same Thing We Do Every Night" refers to the running gag that appears in almost every Pinky and the Brain cartoon. At the beginning of the Pinky and the Brain theme song, Pinky asks Brain "Gee, Brain, what do you want to do tonight?" to which Brain will respond "The same thing we do every night, Pinky, try to take over the world". Almost every Pinky and The Brain episode will end with Brain saying some variation of "Come, Pinky, we must return to the lab to prepare for tomorrow night"! Pinky will then ask "Why, Brain? What are we going to do tomorrow night?" Brain replies "The same thing we do every night, Pinky: Try to take over the world!" and the cartoon ends with either the a chorus of the Pinky and The Brain theme "They're dinky! They're Pinky and The Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain!" (sometimes sung by the Warners in the Animaniacs segments or the deep dramatic choir) or an orchestral variation of the theme.
Many episodes have a variation on the end exchange between the mice, sometimes Brain will add an extra activity for tomorrow night (Come, Pinky! We must get back to our knitting, and prepare for tomorrow night! [Megalomaniacs Anonymous]). Other times he will add another part of "The same thing we do every night" ("The same thing we do every night, Pinky, and twice on Wednesdays" [Broadway Malady]) that Brain will take over another place ("Try to take over the globe...theatre!" [The Melancholy Brain]), or Brain will say something else entirely ("Frankly, my dear Pinky, I don't give a-" [The Megalomaniacal Adventures of Brainy the Poo]).
