Techno Leon,[1][2][3] also known in the United Kingdom as Insector Leon,[4] is a minifigure from the Insectoids theme introduced in 1998.

Description[]

Techno Leon's spacesuit features a dark grey torso and hip with black legs and dark green arms. His torso is decorated with green circuitry and the Insectoids' triangular emblem. He wears a Transparent Green Insect Helm along with black airtanks. His head is dark grey with printed green hair, a smirking facial expression, and cybernetic augmentations including a headset with a copper eyepiece.

Background[]

Techno Leon is a member of the Collection Team.[4] He is a pilot,[2] assigned to man the Odonata with a Gigabot. When a Voltstone has been located on the surface of Planet Armeron, Leon pilots the Odonata to pick up the energy crystal.[4]

In the Time Cruisers comics, Techno Leon and Navigator Sharp find Tim Timebuster and Ingo suffocating on the oxygen-free surface of Armeron, and they rescue the time travelers by giving them spacesuits. Leon pilots the Mosquito Scout into the hollow interior of Armeron. When a swarm of Bilgin Bug mosquitoes pursue Tim's Celestial Stinger, Leon advises Tim to not panic and instead focus on avoiding the planet's lightning.[5]

Notes[]

  • In North America, Techno Leon did not receive a specific name or characterization; he may have been called Robobug based on a speech bubble coming from the Planetary Prowler in LEGO Mania Magazine,[6] but this is unlikely since the term "robobug" is also used in the same issue to refer to the Insectoids' vehicles.[7]
  • In the German September/October 1998 issue and Australian Number 2 1998 issue of World Club Magazine, the names and appearances of Zotaxians are mixed up. In this case, Navigator Sharp's minifigure is mistakenly used to represent Techno Leon, whose minifigure in turn is misidentified as Captain Wizer.[2]
  • World Club Magazine Number 2 1998 refers to Techno Leon as a robot, although this is not reflected by any of his other appearances.[2] Given the aforementioned mix-up in names/appearances and other discrepancies in the article, this may have been an error and "Techno Leon" may actually be referring to Gigabot in this instance.
