Fictional character biography

edit

Neophyte is a Swiss member of the Acolytes who can phase his body and others, allowing complete intangibility and high-speed transport through inanimate matter. The youngest member of the group, he was assigned tasks of little importance and did not accompany the other Acolytes into battle. However, he eventually helps the X-Men infiltrate the Acolytes' base before leaving both teams to search for meaning on his own terms.[1]

The Acolytes later capture Neophyte and put him on trial for betraying them. They decide to sentence him to death before Colossus convinces them otherwise.[2]

Neophyte eventually returns to the Acolytes after Magneto resurfaces. He retains his powers following M-Day, moves to Utopia, and later helps Cyclops fight the Nimrods.[3][4]

Powers and abilities

edit

Neophyte can make himself and others intangible, enabling them to travel through and merge with inorganic material. This also enables him to split and reform his body.

Other versions

edit

An alternate universe variant of Neophyte from Earth-11326 appears in Age of X: Communiques #1.[5]
