Curious

edit

Hi, Wbm1058 – I'm curious about three edits, here, here and here. Your reason was to "disambiguate"?  Paine Ellsworth  put'r there  08:28, 22 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

What precipitated this is now a deleted 10:13, 1 March 2017 edit to Swiss by an editor with a very short editing history:
#REDIRECT [[Swiss (disambiguation)]]
Of course that would be flagged as WP:MALPLACED, though I noticed this and fixed it before RussBot had a chance to report this to Wikipedia:WikiProject Disambiguation/Malplaced disambiguation pages.
I noticed this because in my regular patrols, I saw Category:Articles with redirect hatnotes needing review telling me that this hatnote on Switzerland was lying:
"Swiss" and "Swiss Confederation" redirect here. For other uses, see Swiss (disambiguation) and Swiss Confederation (disambiguation).
At 14:22, 1 March 2017 I moved page Swiss (version 2) back to Swiss without leaving a redirect.
Also in the deleted history of Swiss: At 13:07, 28 September 2016 Uanfala moved page Swiss to Swiss (disambiguation) over redirect: not uncontroversial. feel free to start an RM
And before that: 13:10, 27 September 2016 Anthony Appleyard moved page Swiss to Swiss (version 2) without leaving a redirect (get away from incoming)
At 13:10, 27 September 2016 Anthony Appleyard moved page Swiss (disambiguation) to Swiss: Requested by Champion at WP:RM/TR: No WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and Chinese, American, etc all follow the same convention
Given that this many editors feel that Swiss is ambiguous, I thought it prudent to at least disambiguate in template-space: [[Switzerland|Swiss]] for municipalities in Switzerland . – wbm1058 (talk) 09:50, 22 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
To editor Wbm1058: thank you for that! Works for me. There are times when WP:NOTBROKEN just does not apply, and this does appear to be one of those times.  Paine Ellsworth  put'r there  15:11, 22 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
