Besides teaching individuals with multiple sclerosis how to live with the disease, it is important to be able to manage symptoms like bladder problems, fatigue, itching, pain, bowel dysfunction, and even sexual problems. This can be done by taking different types of medications, such as Tysabri. [1] Corticosteroids can be used to help limit the impact of acute relapses, while interferon beta was thought to prevent relapses. [2]. Another recent study on Tysabri has been shown to reduce the worsening of multiple sclerosis. [3] Although it was previously thought that interferon beta helps, recent studies suggest that it actually has no impact on the effects of multiple sclerosis and that relapses are just as likely to occur.
