[edit]Cognate with Proto-Italic *haidos, but cannot be traced back to Proto-Indo-European.[1] According to Bjørn, from the same source as Proto-Semitic *gady-, Proto-Berber *a-ɣăyd, Proto-Nakh *gaazaᶰ.[2]
