Wai Lin is the deuteragonist of the 007 1997 movie Tomorrow Never Dies. She is a fictional Chinese agent who ends up teaming up with James Bond to stop the evil Elliot Carver.
She is played by Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh, who also played Soothsayer in Kung Fu Panda 2 and Philippa Georgiou in the Star Trek: Discovery pilot The Vulcan Hello.

Tomorrow Never Dies[]
Wai Lin appears for the first time at the celebration party held in Hamburg, Germany, the headquarters of CMGN (Carver Media Group Network), a company led by the largest mass media tycoon in the world, controlled by Elliot Carver.
She entered as an unauthorized guest, as a New China News Agency reporter, with the rank of colonel and possessors of Marizli arts, to investigate the disappearance of hidden material from a People's Liberation Army base linked to the media mogul's plan, to prevent Elliot Carver from starting a People's Republican War between China and the UK
Li randomly meets Bond, who has also been tasked to investigate the same case, posing as a banker, where he obviously tries to seduce her as she does with all women, but without success.
Lin meets Bond again, by chance, inside the secret labs of the CMGN, and then they pretend it never happened, and then they discover their true intentions for each other.
They initially believe that they have been ordered to kill each other, and they sleep aboard the wreck of the British frigate HMS Devonshire, which sank off the coast of Vietnam. They gradually realize this is not the case, but soon after they are kidnapped by Carver's henchmen to be tortured. Bond especially grows to respect her when she playfully, but firmly rejects her attempts to seduce her.
However, the two manage to escape through a window with a huge advertising banner, and flee the streets of Saigon in a BMW R1200. After the event they take a shower, but when Bond tries to get close to her, Lin refuses by saying hurtful things.
They infiltrate the Carver neighborhood, where Lin is captured and Bond coming to rescue her is also taken, and it is there that Carver unveils his plan to control all the media around the world with exclusive coverage rights of the war he wants to wage, which he will kick off when he uses his ship's missiles to destroy a British craft.
At the last-minute, Lin breaks free and also frees Bond, so that he can defuse the missiles and kill Carver and destroy the ship with all his men (including Stamper).
With the mission completed there, Wai Lin succumbs to Bond's charm and the two connect.
Personality[]
Wai Lin is an intelligent, resourceful and competent agent who takes her job very seriously. She tends to favor stealth and espionage over direct confrontations, but she won't hesitate to kill her enemies when it's required on a given mission. She loves to extract information from others using her charisma and charm.
