Tom Constantine (トム・コンスタンタイン, Tomu Konsutantain) is an English actor, model, and stuntman who has made several appearances in various tokusatsu episodes and movies as an extra.[1] He portrays John/Kamen Rider Garun in Kamen Rider Geats and an unnamed Riotrooper captain in Kamen Rider 555 20th: Paradise Regained.
Biography[]
Constantine studied computer games in college and began working at a video game company as a game designer. In January of 2014 at the age of 29, Constantine moved to Japan with a one-year visa, and founded the Tokusatsu Network, an online blog for Tokusatsu-related news. With his newfound connections, Constantine's stay in Japan turned permanent as he began working as a freelance translator, with his most notable credit being a localizer for Hideo Kojima's game Death Stranding.[2]
He also began to pursue acting for action films, and was an extra for Koichi Sakamoto's Girl's Blood. His connections allowed him to also begin stunt training and found Rival Stunts, a stuntman agency in Japan for foreigners.
In 2022, Constantine retired from his position at the Tokusatsu Network to further focus on his acting career.[3]
Personal Life[]
- As a child, Constantine grew up watching Power Rangers
and viewed select episodes of Gosei Sentai Dairanger. He got back into the franchise as a teenager through Power Rangers Time Force and discovered Kamen Rider through Kamen Rider 555.[4] - While still in the UK, Constantine had recommended several of his Japan-based friends to a casting call for Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger through 2chan.
- He is the leader of Japan-based foreign stunt team Rival Stunts.[5]
- Constantine has a pet dog named Sougo, named after Sougo Tokiwa, the main protagonist of Kamen Rider Zi-O.[6]
