Bungee Buds are young Bungee Piranhas appearing in Yoshi's Island DS, they are seen during the battle with the Big Bungee Piranha and aid him by attempting to pester Yoshi as he dodges the colossal Piranha Plant's attacks. Bungee Buds resemble small Bungee Piranhas with prickly stems.

Yoshi's Island DS[]

Bungee Buds appear in Yoshi's Island DS. In this game, two appear in Big Bungee Piranha's Lair during the boss fight with Big Bungee Piranha. After Kamek has used his magic to enlarge the Big Bungee Piranha, the Bungee Buds will also bloom. During the battle, the Bungee Buds will occasionally pull themselves down attempting to hit Yoshi as he dodges the Big Bungee Piranha's attacks. Every time the Big Bungee Piranha lunges down to swallow Yoshi, the Bungee Buds follow as well. If the Big Bungee Piranha successfully swallows Yoshi, one of the Bungee Buds will grab hold of the baby making it rather challenging to retrieve the baby from the Bungee Buds, they will constantly move up and down at this time as well. If Yoshi successfully tricks the Big Bungee Piranha into biting down on the Chomp Rock, they will be stunned with their leader, with every hit the Big Bungee Piranha receives, the more aggressive the Bungee Buds get. The Bungee Buds can't be destroyed directly but after the Big Bungee Piranha is destroyed, they also die with it.

• The Bungee Buds are similar to the Naval Buds which appeared alongside Naval Piranha in Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3.
