Mario Party

Sink or Swim is a 1-vs.-3 mini-game in Mario Party 6.

Layout[]

The mini-game takes place by a pond. The teammates are inside of the pond, while the solo characters moves between three large flowers.

Opening[]

The solo character tries to drop a mine on the teammate in the middle of the pond, but they miss.

Gameplay[]

The solo character has to throw mines into the water below and try to hit all three teammates. Meanwhile, the teammates have to try and dodge the mines until the 30-second time limit runs out. Each teammate has a breath meter, and if a teammate is underwater too long, they float to the top to get air, making it easier for the solo character to drop a mine onto them. If a teammate is hit by a mine, they sink out of sight and are eliminated from the minigame. The solo character wins if they manage to eliminate the three team members, but the group wins if at least one of them still remains at the end.

The player on the surface should watch the others and aim carefully.

Trivia[]

  • The minigame's name is derived from the phrase "sink or swim," which describes a scenario where someone gets something right or fails, with no intermediate outcomes.
