Sora is the main protagonist of the crossover video game series, Kingdom Hearts by Disney and Square Enix. The series pits him fighting alongside and against various Disney and Final Fantasy characters, including Cloud Strife and Sephiroth. Sora wields a Keyblade as his weapon of choice. Sora has been announced to be the last DLC character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Sora lived on Destiny Islands with his friends Riku and Kairi, Sora ended up embarking on a grand adventure the night his home was attacked by the Heartless. During this, he obtained a weapon called the Keyblade. After his world was swallowed by the darkness, he found himself in Traverse Town, where he met Donald and Goofy. With the Keyblade and the help of his new friends, Sora protects the worlds from the Heartless and other threats presented by Maleficent and Master Xehanort.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[]
On October 5, 2021, Sora was announced to be the last DLC character releasing for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, was released on October 18, 2021. He is set to also be releasing alongside his home stage Hollow Bastion. According to Sakurai in Sora's reveal trailer, Sora was the real winner of the Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot back in 2015 for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS; though the contest concluded with Bayonetta being added to the game, Sakurai stated that this was because Sora was not considered a realistic option at the time. He has costumes based on his appearance from Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts II, Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, and Kingdom Hearts III, with an alternate appearance for his Kingdom Hearts design which resembles his look in Timeless River.

- Sora is the third fighter in the Smash Bros. franchise to be owned by a company that does not specialize primarily in game development, after Banjo & Kazooie and Steve (all of whom are owned by Microsoft), that being The Walt Disney Company.
- Sora is the first character from a Square Enix developed game to be fully voiced in English, as Cloud, Hero, and Sephiroth are only voiced by their Japanese voice actors (Takahiro Sakurai, Mitsuki Saiga, and Toshiyuki Morikawa), in place of their English actors (Steve Burton, Rasmus Hardiker, and George Newbern).
- Also, as his English voice actor, Haley Joel Osment, is also a screen actor and has starred in several films, most notably Forrest Gump and The Sixth Sense, this also makes Sora the first playable character to have a "celebrity voice actor", as this is often known as.
- Sora is also the fourth Square Enix character in Smash.
