The Weight is a stat for Karts and Bikes. Weight is important when a collision occurs between two karts. The lighter kart will be pushed aside, often Off-Road or on a wall.

It also effects the way a car drives. Normally, the heavier the kart is, the faster it will be and the slower its acceleration will be. The lighter kart would normally be slower but much better acceleration.

Weight classes[]

Light/Small[]

These karts are typically slow and easy to push around but have excellent acceleration, maneuverability, and off-road stats (though there are exceptions). These karts are only recommended for beginners or for who are learning a new input type (such as Wii Remote and GameCube Controller for Mario Kart Wii). Typical characters in this class are smaller characters, Toad, Koopa Troopa, Paratroopa (in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!), and Dry Bones (Mario Kart DS, Mario Kart Wii).

Medium/Middleweight[]

These karts are typically average in all stats. These karts are great for Beginners and Experts alike, especially in Grand Prix and VS Mode. Typical characters in this class are Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, and Daisy (although the latter three are sometimes Lightweights).

Large/Heavy[]

These karts are typically fast and hard to push around, but have poor acceleration, maneuverability, and off-road stats (though there are exceptions). these karts are recommended for experts (especially in time trial). Typical Characters in this class are Bowser, Donkey Kong, Wario, King Boo (ironically), and Waluigi (although he is also sometimes listed as a Middleweight)
