The subject of this article is part of an MCU franchise story that has been officially deemed to be non-canonical to the primary continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Its events instead occur in another reality within the Multiverse. This universe is designated as "Ultimo Transformation".

Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division, abbreviated as S.H.I.E.L.D. is a spy agency.

History[]

Spy Activities[]

S.H.I.E.L.D. was founded as a spy organization and involved itself in an insurrection being led by Valentin Shatalov in Russia. They sent Natasha Romanoff to the facility in order to determine what Shatalov was doing, and she sent back pictures of a Crimson Dynamo Armor.[1]

Attack on the Tesla Facility[]

S.H.I.E.L.D. responded to separatists taking over an energy facility in Russia using new technology when Tony Stark called Nick Fury requesting permission to land in the country and investigate the same facility. Not believing it to be a coincidence, Fury cleared the group to investigate. Stark went with a group of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents in helicopters toward the base while the Fury led an attack from the other side using the Helicarrier. Stark escorted the soldiers and defended them from attacks, but they were attacked by a Roxxon Armiger which killed a pilot. Stark destroyed the Armiger and guided them to the facility, where they joined the assault on Valentin Shatalov's insurrectionists. They defeated the insurrectionists, but ultimately realized that Shatalov was not there.[1]

Tracking Valentin Shatalov[]

Tony Stark hacked into S.H.I.E.L.D. and got information on Shatalov, and Nick Fury ultimately decided to allow Stark to do so. Fury revealed that Natasha Romanoff had not reported in several days, so Stark went to the power plant where Romanoff was and decided to destroy the plant and rescue Romanoff. Stark found Romanoff and helped her reach a S.H.I.E.L.D. extraction. Stark defeated Valentin Shatalov and met with Romanoff, who explained what she had learned, including that Kearson DeWitt was behind the Theft of the Dataspine.

Stark, Romanoff, and James Rhodes went to a facility where Project P.R.O.T.E.A.N. was being run, and S.H.I.E.L.D. accompanied them. They waited nearby as Stark's armor got infected by P.R.O.T.E.A.N. technology. Stark asked Fury to fire on the base at Stark's word, and Fury hesitantly agreed. Once the facility was destroyed, a S.H.I.E.L.D. Sweep Team was sent to search for DeWitt, but could not find any sign of him. Fury watched as Ultimo infected J.A.R.V.I.S. and threatened to kill everyone Stark cared about, ordering medical teams for Rhodes and Stark.[1]

Operation Daybreak[]

A.I.M. carried out an attack on the Helicarrier, causing Nick Fury to mobilize his troops. Tony Stark, forced to use a weaker version of the Iron Man armor, defended the Helicarrier as long as he could until James Rhodes was able to get out of bed rest and take the Stark Industries Private Jet away from the fight, allowing both himself and Stark to recover. Rhodes then took over the fight and defeated the attackers, including a large A.I.M. Arc Armiger. Stark and Rhodes retaliated by figuring out Ultimo's next move and destroying Project Greengrid.[1]

Battle at Stark Archives[]

Tony Stark and James Rhodes set a trap for Ultimo at Stark Archives which S.H.I.E.L.D. participated in. Stark attempted to reason with Ultimo, but when this failed, ordered S.H.I.E.L.D. to launch a series of missiles at Ultimo from the Helicarrier. This allowed Stark to enter Ultimo's body and learn about him. Meanwhile, Rhodes fought Ultimo with air support from S.H.I.E.L.D. Fury tried to help using recovered Project Greengrid technology, but Ultimo hijacked the technology and used it to infect Rhodes' armor. S.H.I.E.L.D. sent several helicopters toward the fight as Stark asked for S.H.I.E.L.D. and Rhodes to collectively hit Ultimo and cause a lot of damage all at once, which they did. One of the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicopters started to fall, so Rhodes helped keep it up. Once Stark was safely out of Ultrimo's body, Fury crashed the Helicarrier into it, destroying Ultimo once and for all.[1]
