Orelious IX

Orelious IX was a planet located somewhere in the space of the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants, the ninth planet in orbit of the Orelious star system.

History[]

In the 14th century, this world was the site of the last battle between the Promellians and the Menthars. The battle saw the planet reduced to asteroids, and eventually, the mutual extinction of both civilization.

In the year 2366, the Federation starship USS Enterprise explored the remains of the planet, finding an intact Promellian battle cruiser, the Cleponji, trapped within the asteroid ruins by Menthar aceton assimilators, which had drained it of all energy, leaving it helpless and trapped. The Enterprise was also briefly trapped by the assimilators, but was able to navigate to safety using thrusters. After their escape, the Enterprise used photon torpedoes to destroy the assimilator field and the Cleponji, to prevent any future travelers becoming trapped. (TNG episode: "Booby Trap")

In 2396, under J'mpok's orders, the Klingon Defense Force's Seventh Fleet was sent to the system and destroyed a Nausicaan base in the asteroid belt. After that, the Klingons picked off every escaping Nausicaan vessel. (ST website: The Path to 2409)
