Summary[]

An accident during an attack on Voyager results in Elizabeth Alpha, a hologram created by Paris and adopted as a friend by Kim, becoming self-aware. Deciding not to inform the crew of her existence, she finds a way to hide herself in other holograms and ships' systems, witnessing the beginning of Paris and Torres' relationship, Chakotay's guilt over his actions concerning the Kradin and the Doctor and Neelix dealing with the loss of Kes.

When Voyager is taken over by the Hirogen, Elizabeth becomes caught up in their war games. She discovers Kim's plan to overload the holo-generators and secretly assists him, even though doing so robs her of the ability to generate physical forms. She is left as a consciousness in the computer, continuing to observe Voyager's travels.
