Rat Race (こっそりラット?, Kossori Rat) is the 3rd Rhythm Game of Stage 2 (9th overall) in Rhythm Tengoku and the 1st Rhythm Game of Donut Tower (48th overall) in Rhythm Heaven Megamix.
Title Card[]
In Rhythm Tengoku and its Arcade version, there is a slice of cheese, before a shadow of a rat appears on it, before the text appears.
In Rhythm Heaven Megamix, a group of rats are looking at an interview showing cheese and some details, before it switches to a black cat with details, terrifying the rat group, before the corners turn black and the text "Rat Race" fades in.
Gameplay[]
The three Rats run across a very, very long kitchen table. During the Practice and Remixes (and in Rhythm Heaven Megamix, the first half of the game), the frontmost rat uses a stoplight to give signals. Ms. Whiskers repeatedly pops up to try to catch the rats, and when she appears, they need to stop behind a stack of plates. The music goes quiet for a few bit before it starts building up, and the rats prepare to run off.
Controls[]
- Ⓐ (Hold)/Tap (Hold): Stop
- Ⓐ (Release)/Tap (Release): Go
Timing Display[]
- Perfect!/Ace!: The white rat stops and starts correctly.
- Early!/Late!: When stopping, the white rat halts abrutly, sweating a little. When starting, the white rat starts moving at the wrong time, and a spring sound effect plays.
- Miss...: When stopping, the white rat bumps into the rat infront of him, causing it to get angry. When starting, the white rat stays in place, causing the one behind him to bump into him. If the player holds for too long, the white rat falls behind, and automatically starts moving to catch up. If any rat happens to not be covered by dishes when Ms. Whiskers comes up, they will cower in fear and sweat profusely.

Kossori Rat 2P (こっそりラット 2P?, Kossori Rat 2P) is the 2nd Rhythm Game of Stage 2 (6th overall) in the 2P mode of Rhythm Tengoku (Arcade).
It plays the same as the 1P version, but there is a second set of rats, with both players controlling the white rats. Interestingly, while most 2P games show a How to Play video instead of a Practice, Kossori Rat 2P shows a How to Play video, and a Practice right after.

Trivia[]
- When the Rats stop, the stoplight shows three red lights. In Rhythm Tengoku (Arcade), the lights stay off while the Rats are stopped. This is reverted back to showing red lights in Rhythm Heaven Megamix.
- The How to Play video for Kossori Rat 2P shows red lights, however.
- The Rats make a cameo in Freeze Frame, where they sometimes appear in the photos.
- Ms. Whiskers makes a cameo in Wake-Up Caller, sometimes appearing at the window.
- Bunny Hop, Fan Club 2, Quiz Show, Big Rock Finish, and this game are the only games to receive remixed music in Rhythm Heaven Megamix.
