Tyson Fox

Tyson Fox was a supporting character in Scream 3 (2000 film). He was a Hollywood actor cast in Stab 3: Return to Woodsboro (2000) as the role of Ricky Wafford.

Tyson was the seventh character to fall victim in the third Ghostface killing spree, also known as the Hollywood Murders.

He was portrayed by Deon Richmond.

Biography[]

The Hollywood Murders (2000)[]

Even though Tyson had a Shakespearean history, he portrayed Ricky Wafford, a character based on Randy Meeks. This character was apparently set to be stabbed in the head with large scissors. Tyson appeared to have a good relationship with his fellow cast members and was easy-going and funny.

Tyson briefly encountered Sidney, seeing her after the Woodsboro set attack when Angelina was pulled out front for stealing props of the film since it was closed for production due to the murders of Cotton Weary and Sarah Darling.

He is absent during Jennifer Jolie's house explosion where two others died: Jennifer's celebrity bodyguard, Steven Stone, and Tom Prinze.

Tyson re-appeared during Sidney's attack and later at Roman's 30th birthday party at John Milton's mansion. At the party, Angelina encourages him to split up from the others.

Death[]

Tyson was killed by Roman after fighting Ghostface for attacking the group in Milton's guest bedroom. He was stabbed in the stomach when he attempted to tackle Ghostface into a wall.

He got up to run and attempting to alert the police, Ghostface pulls the throw-rug from underneath causing Tyson to fall, increasing his injury. Upon the struggle of trying to escape again, Tyson was smashed against a glass cupboard and thrown off the balcony to his death. Ghostface looks over the balcony briefly admiring his work with Tyson before advancing to the next victim.

Dewey continued to call for Tyson, only to find him dead; Sidney found Tyson's body later when she arrived at the mansion, next to a metal detector.

Trivia[]

• He was described as "TYSON Fox: late-20's, African-American, all attitude" in the script.
  • Deon Richmond, however, was only 21 when shooting the film.
• Being that he had a Shakespearean work history, Tyson could have been a method actor, which would explain his Randy Meeks-like persona on set. That, or it could have been his real personality.
• He is one of the few characters to physically fight Ghostface.
• Tyson was deliberately intended to be a primary suspect for Ghostface. This is evident since he is present at Sarah Darling's murder, missing at Jennifer's house destruction and also present during Sidney's attack on the Woodsboro film set.
• His death is similar to Cici Cooper's from Scream 2.
• Tyson would be the first male victim of Ghostface in the Scream franchise to be killed due to being thrown from high elevation after being attacked. His death would later be homaged by:
  • Avery Collins (Season 3), a white male teenage victim from Atlanta, Georgia.
• He is the fourth African-American victim in the Scream franchise. He is also the second black male victim of Ghostface in the franchise after Phil Stevens.
• His castmates are named after famous celebs, Jennifer Jolie (Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie), Angelina Tyler (Jolie and Liv Tyler), Tom Prinze (Tom Cruise and Freddie Prinze Jr) and Sarah Darling (Sarah Michelle Gellar and Craven would call Geller Darling). Fox himself is probably named after model/actor, Tyson Beckford, and actor/comedian, Jamie Foxx.
