The C5 tractor beam emitter was a tractor beam projector used on the YT-1300 light freighter. A pair of them were installed in the mandibles and used to move cargo and assist in docking.[1]

The C5 was a tractor beam emitter manufactured by Phylon Transport for the Corellian Engineering Corporation; they were standard equipment on board the company's YT-1300 model of light freighter. A pair of them were installed in opposing positions in the ship's forward mandibles and could be remotely controlled from the cockpit,engineering stations or a dedicated console in the ship's freight-loading room. They had a limited range of 30 meters and a limited targeting computer which made them unsuitable for military purposes such as the capture or damage of hostile ships, but they could easily lift up to 900 kilograms of cargo making them perfect for hauling and ferrying cargo containers.[1]
Despite its name, the C5 actually included a built-in tractor beam generator as well as emitter which could work independently from the ship's Quadex power core. The generator contained two counter-rotating force-field assemblies, each lined with matter coils and field dispersion inhibitors which controlled the spread of the force field. The field generated in the assemblies was then focused through a pair of focusing rings and projected from the main beam emitter. A number of smaller projectors next to the beam emitter projected a control pulse to further regulate the force field. The assembly included a control module between the generator and the emitter, with a maintenance override switch and removable panels for easy access to the system's inner circuits.[1]
