Agams is the formerly secondary antagonist of Ultraman Decker. He is an alien from the Planet Bazdor who went undercover into TPU as Yuichiro Asakage, before revealing his true colors as its mole bent on conquering the Earth and assimilating it with the Sphere by using its technology.

He is portrayed by Yu Koyanagi.

Personality[]

Befitting a scientist, he is always calm and composed, and if roped into battle he can control the mechs or give commands to their pilots.

However, after revealing his true colors as a mole within TPU, his personality becomes the opposite. While he is still calm and composed, he uses this affability to spite Kanata in an attempt to let the Sphere take over the Earth, and will lose his calm demeanor, reducing him to a ranting mess, when things don't go his way.

Biography[]

Future[]

Several centuries into the future, humanity encountered many alien races which include the Alien Bazdor. However, the Spheres' attack of the planet Bazdor was inevitable despite receiving help from Yuzare, Ultraman Dyna, and Decker Asumi as Ultraman Decker. The Spheres eventually assimilated with Planet Bazdor, imprisoning it within a Sphere barrier; however Agams remained confident that the Bazdo would fight back and win. Unfortunately, Agams would lose his wife, Laelia, in a Sphere attack and go insane from it, losing faith in defeating the invaders. As a result, Agams, who was once Decker's ally began to show resentment towards humanity for his losses and Decker's light for bringing the Spheres to them so he can destroy Earth in the past and avoid them unwittingly bringing the Sphere threat to Bazdo. He then began traveling back in time, taking the Spheres with him and destroying the system in the process to prevent its abuse.

Ultraman Decker[]

Agams begins to blend with human society and took on the alias of Yuichiro Asakage to study the TPU's technology. They started with the DG001 project while also redeveloping space exploration equipment such as the GUTS Hawk and HANE2 into combat-oriented arsenal for GUTS-Select's use.

When the DG001 project initiated, Asakage handed the plan to the staff of Special Section 3 to start the construction of Terraphaser. He would also install the Hyper Thorn Laser program into GUTS Gryphon to evaluate its ability while retrieving feedback data for Terraphaser. Terraphaser's testing day proved to be a challenge when Gazort and Raibasser arrived to disrupt the test run after sensing it as a potential threat. With the robot's original AI disabled by their attack, Asakage had HANE2 act as a replacement to pilot the robot while he continued to gather the feedback data.

However, after the resurrection of Spheresaurus, Asakage reveals his true colors in front of TPU: He hijacked Terraphaser in an attempt to assist the Spheres in their conquest for Earth and the destruction of mankind, bent on imprisoning it with the Sphere Barrier to prevent them from going into space. Before he could get further in his plans, another Ultraman Decker from the future, whose host is named Decker Asumi, arrived and fought both the new Spheresaurus and the now-evil Terraphaser to a draw. After Decker gave Kanata his courage back Terraphaser was defeated and destroyed by Kanata as Decker Dynamic, his final form. Beaten but not done, Agams retreated while reciting a chant to himself.

Agams returned later, teaming up with the malevolent Yapool to lure Decker into a trap. After Decker escapes Yapool's trap in his dimension and defeats the Terrible Beast, Aribunta, he is lured to the Moon where he confronts a platoon of Sphere alongside Ultraman Trigger. Agams once again escaped. Agams returns later in episode 21, where he aids the accidentally human-made Sphere Geomos as Terraphaser, but is confronted by Ultraman Dyna, who he manages to overwhelm by ganging up on him with Geomos' help, until Decker Dynamic appears and helps defeat both monsters once again with Terraphaser retreating when Agams is affected by the Sphere powering his mech.

Growing madder with the Spheres' influence eating away at his memories and being, Agams would begin another scheme in trying to finally close off the Sphere barrier by using Terraphaser after his Chandlar is destroyed by GUTS-Select in a botched plan of his. With Terraphaser he fights Decker to a draw until the backlash of their attacks and exhaustion causes them to collapse and detransform. Agams would be revealed to have lost his memories but after a brief interrogation recovers them when a massive Sphere attack begins and transforms into Terraphaser once more to fully call the Spheres' leader: Mother Spheresaurus, to Earth to destroy it at last with him ending fully under the control of the Sphere as the Spheres' progenitor arrives and is confronted by Ultraman Trigger Glitter Eternity.

In the penultimate episode Agam leads the Sphere in shrinking the Barrier, but Kanata arrives to stop him and after another lengthy battle where Terraphaser incapacitates Captain Murahoshi and Vice-Captain Sawa then almost kills Ryumon and Kirino, Kanata is finally able to reach out and redeem Agams by reminding him that his wife wouldn't have wanted him to destroy earth and that he really just blamed Earth for the Bazdo's failure to protect their loved ones, his wife included, and ultimately was just hoping to die along with Earth to put everyone out of his perceived misery. He then uses Terraphaser to destroy the Sphere pillars holding up the barrier and destroy it at last. Unfortunately, before they could celebrate their victory Mother Sphere arrives and takes on her Mother Spheresaurus form now aiming to devour Earth and the Eternity Core after defeating Ultraman Trigger, Agams perishes when he uses Terraphaser to save a mortally wounded Decker Dynamic from the Mother's full-powered beam and gives encouragement to his friend before he dies, in his final moments he also has visions of his wife, implicitly reuniting with her and all his loved ones in the afterlife.

Trivia[]

  • The surname of Agams' human alias, "Asakage", translates to "morning shadow", foreshadowing his role as a mole within TPU.
  • According to Yu Koyanagi, Asakage's true identity being Agams was known to the cast members since the start of filming so as to challenge their acting expressions by portraying their characters being oblivious to the alien in disguise.
  • Agams' named is a reference to the main character of Ultraman Geed's Kei Fukuide in-universe novels, Agam, based off Ultraman Belial. Interestingly, both took a demonic power for revenge and wound up corrupted by it and gradually maddened.
