Tangle, also known as the Blob, is the secondary antagonist of the "Burntrap Ending" of Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach, and the overarching antagonist of its sequel DLC Ruin.
It is a gigantic, animalistic hybrid of wires and past animatronics that closely resembles Molten Freddy (and is speculated by some to be him). It resides in Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place and attacks anyone it sees.
Appearance[]
Tangle's body is comprised of a large mass of thick dark grey wires. These wires wrap around each other to form tentacle-like appendages and a flexible neck leading to a Glamrock endoskeleton skull surrounded by the casing of Funtime Freddy's head. Throughout its body, there are various parts from other animatronics. These include: Chica's torso and head, Mangle's head, torso and endoskeleton, Bonnie's head and arm, Circus Baby's head and the Puppet's mask.
A grimy and dirty texture covers the entirety of Tangle, including the various animatronic casings, whose paint is visibly worn off. Many of the parts comprising Tangle are loose and have to be held in place by wires intertwined into them, such as Chica's body, which is held together by wires going into her mouth. Most of these parts are also darkened, dented and scratched, with the most notable damage being five parallel scars above Funtime Freddy's eye.
The majority of the animatronics in Tangle have glowing red eyes, with the only exceptions being the Puppet and Circus Baby. Curiously, in Gregory's drawing of the Burntrap ending from Ruin, Tangle's eyes glow purple instead.

Backstory[]
Not much is known about Tangle's past. Fans speculate it might have its origins in Molten Freddy, whether it be him after surviving the fire and amassing new parts onto himself, or simply the Mimic's attempt to replicate him, mirroring Afton's old experiments.
In the Tales from the Pizzaplex story GGY, Gregory writes a story about an animatronic supervillain facing off against a tentacle monster. Due to this, it is believed by fans that Tangle has faced off against Burntrap in the past, with it being speculated that this is how it received the claw marks above its eye. Since then, it seemingly has stayed dormant in the sinkhole, keeping Burntrap trapped down in his area. It's mildly implies it has killed a construction crew and/or stole several animatronic parts from the museum of the Mega Pizzaplex.
Security Breach[]
In the Burntrap Ending, Gregory and his animatronic friend Glamrock Freddy go underground to find Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place, with Gregory hiding inside Glamrock Freddy to avoid Tangle's wrath. Later, during the duo's battle with Burntrap, Tangle's tentacles protrude from the vents within the office, attempting to grab and kill Gregory. Ultimately, at the end of the battle, the burning pizzeria starts to collapse. Burntrap enters the office in a last-ditch effort to escape, only for Tangle to drop into his chamber and drag him away. It is unknown what Tangle did to Burntrap due to this ending not being canon.
Ruin[]
Following the events of the main game, Tangle tunneled out from the underground Pizza Place, causing the sinkhole's structure to collapse along with a large portion of the Pizzaplex. After breaking through the gates in Roxy Raceway leading to the underground area, Tangle seemingly made the ruined Pizzaplex its home.
Tangle makes a short cameo at the start of the DLC, where it can be seen lurking in a hole in the Pizzaplex's wall before slipping away when Cassie arrives.
Personality[]
Tangle has no personality and is essentially an animal. Only "speaking" in mechanical breathing and roars, it is aggressive to any humans it sees, instantly killing them upon entering its vicinity. However, it still apparently retains some amount of intelligence, since it can tell the difference between certain entities and whether it should attack them or not (e.g. it attacks Gregory on his own, but not when he's inside Glamrock Freddy). It also attacks the emerging Burntrap.
In the Ruin DLC, Tangle shows signs of shyness and curiosity, lurking in the abandoned PizzaPlex before escaping once almost found by Cassie.

- Tangle was teased for Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach at the end of the first Freddy & Friends: On Tour episode, where its tentacle slides across the static screen. However, people believed it was Eleanor, Baby or Nightmarionne.
- Tangle is by far the largest animatronic character in the entire Five Nights at Freddy's franchise, aside from maybe Afton's Amalgamation from the Fazbear Frights series.
- Before the Ruin DLC came out, many theorized that Burntrap would take control of the Tangle, and become the games version of the Afton Amalgamation in the next game.
- Excluding the Puppet, it's likely that the shells of the animatronics within Tangle are the duplicates made by the Fazbear Funtime Service. Another popular theory is that it took those shells from the museum area of the PizzaPlex, where various animatronic body parts are being kept, with some cases being empty.
- It seems Tangle doesn't actually have a soul, even if it does, Charlie's soul isn't included.
- On Gregory's Faz-Watch, there are messages from the PizzaPlex's construction crew describing how they are investigating the area, they are building over (that being the buried Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place). Their last message states that they have found the elevator leading to the pizzeria. Since there are no other messages from the construction crew after this point, it is possible all of them were killed by Tangle, who is known very hostile and aggressive towards humans or they hadn't went down there yet.
- Interestingly, the endoskeleton behind the head of Tangle is actually that part of a Glamrock Endo.
- It's still unknown what's the connection between Tangle and Molten Freddy. Some believe Tangle is just his successor the same way the Mimic has succeeded William Afton, others think Tangle is a rebuild Molten Freddy but with a different mind(s) controlling him in these case is fueled with negative emotions known as agony/dark remnants rather than remnants, or that they are straight-up the same being, controlled by the same AIs/entities. Some also think Tangle is what remains of the Storyteller, a mechanical tree that the Mimic was previously controlled before it was removed that controlled numerous wires. Others believe that Tangle is actually what remains of Lefty after the fire due to the Puppet mask in its design, and Lefty's main purpose is trapping animatronics within itself. As of now, the wiki will treat them all as separate beings.
- The official Five Nights at Freddy's character encyclopedia states that the Blob is a non-canon name, and thus not official, despite being how the creature is called in the game files. Likewise, it would be renamed "Tangle" in the Ruin DLC 2023.
- In the Tales from the Pizzaplex epilogues, the Mimic is seen piling up his victims alongside endoskeletons. These piles are described as tangled masses, leading fans to believe that Tangle might have originated from them in some way.
- Its name is the same as a FNaF World enemy called "Tangle" a Mangle recolor. This is likely a coincidence.
