Summary

Born to Ghost Hunters Maddie and Jack Fenton, Danny Fenton was just a regular 14-year-old teenager until one day his parents created an invention, the Ghost Portal, and tested it out only for it not to work, and they walked away sadly. Danny decided to check it and try it out, but upon pressing a button, the Ghost Portal turned on and zapped him. As a result, his molecules were fused with Ghost DNA, giving him the powers and abilities of a ghost.

From then on, sporting the name Danny Phantom as his superhero ego, Danny had since been the hero of his hometown, Amity Park, protecting it from evil ghosts and other threats alongside his best friends Sam Manson and Tucker Foley, while still struggling in school and avoiding those trying to capture him, ranging from the Guys in White, his friend and classmate Valerie Gray, and even his parents.

  • Energy Manipulation (Mentioned to have the powers of a ghost on the human plane,[6] with Vlad describing an ectoplasmic energy blast as a "year one" ability,[4] and displays the ability to project his energy in human form later in the series so should be capable of doing so early in the series)

Attack Potency:

At least Street level (Despite being treated as an non-athletic individual, he is comparable to Tucker, who along with Sam could kick a door off it's hinges with a single kick, which would be around this level of power[Note 1]), possibly Wall level in human form (Tucker was confident he could help Danny Phantom take on a possessed Dash Baxter, who could throw a football with this level of force and cause this level of destruction when slamming a football into the ground[9][Note 2]), at least Multi-City Block level+ (Made a crater of this size in the first episode of the series.[5] Later grew powerful enough to fight evenly with an amped Ember McLain, who at the time was more powerful than when she overpowered him the first time they fought[7][Note 3]), up to Multiverse level+ in ghost form (In his battle with the Fright Knight, he grew powerful enough to knock him back and trade blows with him, despite being incapable of even making him flinch early in their fight[16]), higher with Fenton Works Technology (Weapons such as the Fenton Ghost Gloves allowed Jack Fenton to harm and manhandle ghosts as powerful as Vlad Plasmius[35])

Multiverse level+ (In human form, Danny Fenton could physically remove Danny Phantom from within himself after a struggle.[36] In ghost form, while wearing the Ecto-Skeleton and at 10% capacity he could hold base Pariah Dark in his sarcophagus with difficulty, which would make base Danny Phantom around 10x weaker than Pariah, who is superior to all other ghosts, which would include the oldest ghosts who when alive, split the original world in two, creating the Ghost Zone and Human World in the process,[2] both of which are infinite in size and the Ghost Zone containing an infinite number of realms which included timestreams, as well as being superior to ghosts such as Clockwork, who compressed multiple timestreams to stabilize reality and compressed the remaining corrupted timestreams into two stable timelines of the Human World.[2] The Guys in White only thought that "perhaps" the Reality Gauntlet might be powerful enough to eradicate Danny Phantom, with the gauntlet at it's full power can control all reality which included space and time, as it allowed Freakshow to warp space with a simple wave of his hand and allowed Danny to change reality back to before the events of the episode. Yet Danny is shown capable of destroying the gauntlet and the gems with a single attack[20] even though it can withstand the power of the gems being channeled through it and physically striking Danny without breaking[20]), higher with Ghostly Wail (While enraged, his Ghostly Wail could cause serious damage to Dan Phantom[1]) and Fenton Works Technology (Weapons like the Ghost Gloves increase the wearer's strength, and the Ecto-Skeleton multiplies the wearers natural abilities by a hundred-fold[28])

Multiverse level+ (Although he was easily overpowered by a duplicate of Vlad Plasmius that was half as strong as the original[34] he is later shown to have become powerful enough to match Vlad blow for blow in combat[37] with Vlad even asking for his help to combat Vortex.[30] And later in the series, despite once again being defeated in by a duplicate of Vlad Plasmius, in one hit,[38] which was half as strong as the original. In the final episode of the series, he was shown powerful enough to stun the Vlad Plasmius with just the explosion from his energy attacks momentarily[39]) higher with Ghostly Wail (Same as before) and Fenton Works Technology (Fenton Works weapons can harm creatures from Pandora's Box, who can withstand attacks from Danny without issue[25] despite him being twice as strong as he previous season self)

Multiverse level+ (After gaining a new emotional drive, he could harm his future self with his attacks, who was merged with Clockwork,[2] the later of which could compressed multiple timestreams to stabilize reality and compressed the remaining corrupted timestreams into two stable timelines of the Human World[2]), higher with Ghostly Wail (Could harm his future self who had merged with Clockwork[2]) and Fenton Works Technology (The energy blasts from the Fenton weapons could harm Phantom, who had merged with Clockwork[2])

Speed: At least Superhuman Travel Speed (Outran various animal ghosts who would be at least as fast as their living counterparts[11]) with Sub-Relativistic+ Combat and Reaction Speed in human form (Comparable to Tucker, who easily followed Danny Phantom moving at subsonic speed,[11] and who believed he could help Danny Phantom fight a possessed Dash, who caught up to a football that reached enough speed to catch fire[9] and could also react to an attack from Technus and another that was aimed at Danny Phantom[12][Note 4]), at least Sub-Relativistic+ (Capable of keeping up with the likes of Princess Dorathea in her dragon form,[8] which was fast enough to keep up with the Specter Speeder[17]), up to Massively FTL+ in ghost form (Grew fast enough to keep pace with the Fright Knight[16][Note 5]) | Massively FTL+ (In human form, he briefly kept ahead of and dodged multiple blasts from Valerie Gray's suit.[40] In ghost form, at 10% when he wore the Ecto-Skeleton he was shown comparable in power to base Pariah Dark, who preformed this feat,[28] making base Danny Phantom about ten times slower), higher with Ecto-Skeleton (The Ecto-Skeleton multiplies the wearer's natural abilities by a hundred times[28][Note 6]) | Massively FTL+ (At least as fast as before, and moved faster than and dodged a ghost ray[33] which are considered lightspeed. In the final episode of the series, he could keep up with Vlad Plasmius, who could perform this feat[39]) | Massively FTL+ (Comparable to his future self, who fused with Clockwork[Note 7])

Lifting Strength: At least Average Human, possibly higher in human form (Despite being treated as a non-athletic individual, he is comparable to Tucker, who could free himself from a giant spiderweb[16]), at least Superhuman (Could lift a large dragon and throw it a great distance[8]), up to Class 5 in ghost form (Became powerful enough to match the Fright Knight[16]) | Class 5 (In human form, he should be superior to his teacher Mr. Lancer, who is described as an old and out of shape individual yet could still move and lift large stone blocks.[26][Note 8] In his ghost form, he is shown to be superior to Pariah's Soldiers, who can lift and throw trucks[28]), Class K with Ecto-Skeleton (The Ecto-Skeleton multiplied his natural abilities by a hundred times[28][Note 9]) | Class 10 (Easily lifted an occupied school bus[41][Note 10]) | Class K (After gaining his new emotional drive, he became comparable to Phantom[Note 11])

Striking Strength: At least Street level, possibly Wall level in human form (Comparable to Tucker, who along with Sam could kicked a door off it's hinges with a single kick, which would be around level of power), at least Multi-City Block level+ (Could physically smash into the ground with this much force[5]), up to Multiverse level+ in ghost form (Later grew strong enough to effect the Fright Knight with his punches[16]), higher Fenton Works Technology (Weapons such as the Fenton Ghost Gloves allowed Jack Fenton to harm and manhandle ghosts as powerful as Vlad Plasmius[35]) | 'Multiverse level+ (Capable of harming ghosts on his level with his strikes), higher with Fenton Works Technology (Weapons like the Ghost Gloves increase the wearer's strength, and the Ecto-Skeleton multiplied his natural abilities by a hundred times[28]) | Multiverse level+ (Capable of harming ghosts on his level with his strikes), higher with Fenton Works Technology (Weapons like the Ghost Gloves increase the wearer's strength) | Multiverse level+ (Capable of harming ghosts on his level with his strikes), higher with Fenton Works Technology (Weapons like the Ghost Gloves increase the wearer's strength)

Durability: At least Street level (Comparable to his attack power, and should be comparable to other humans, who can survive being thrown across rooms and through tables and remain unharmed[4] that have withstood being stabbed by a tigers claws without serious injury[35]), possibly Multiverse level+ in human form (Comparable to Tucker, who Comparable to Tucker, who was completely unharmed by an accidental blast from Danny Phantom early in the series,[9] even by the end of the season he could survive two blasts from a mind controlled Danny Phantom with no visible harm although it is unknown if Danny was using his full power or not[42]), at least Multi-City Block level+ (Withstood smashing into the ground with this much force,[5] and has only grown stronger) up to Multiverse level+ in ghost form (In his battle with the Fright Knighthe grew powerful enough to knock him back and trade blows with him[16]), higher with Ecto Shield (His shields are capable of blocking attacks from characters who can harm him without issue[15]) and Fenton Works Technology (Weapons such as the Fenton Ghost Gloves allowed Jack Fenton to harm and manhandle ghosts as powerful as Vlad Plasmius without being harmed by the force of their own physical blows[35]) | Multiverse level+ (In human form, he is capable of surviving attacks from ghosts powerful enough to make Hotep RA run in fear.[26] In ghost form, he survived multiple attacks from future versions of his enemies for some time.[1] Took hits from a serious Vlad Plasmius. Survived a direct hit from Prince Aragon fire breath although his ectoplasmic forcefield likely blocked most of the impact. He survived a strike from incomplete Reality Gauntlet[20]), higher with Ecto Shield (His shields are capable of blocking attacks from characters who can harm him without issue) and Fenton Works Technology (The Ecto-Skeleton multiplies the wearers natural abilities by a hundred times and allowed him to take hits from Pariah Dark at full power[28]) | Multiverse level+ (Survived multiple attacks without serious injury from Vortex[30]), higher with Ecto Shield (His shields are capable of blocking attacks from characters who can harm him without issue) and Fenton Works Technology (While wearing the Fenton Peeler, Sam could survive a hit from Ember McLain, that sent her flying into a side of a building with no serious injury[43]) | Multiverse level+ (Comparable to his attack power), higher with Ecto Shield (His shields are capable of blocking attacks from characters who can harm him without issue) and Fenton Works Technology (Weapons like the Fenton Peeler can withstand attacks from Phantom, who had merged with Clockwork[2])

Stamina: Superhuman (Likely comparable to Jazz, who despite having yet to train spent the majority of the day constantly fighting off ghosts sent by Vlad Plasmius and showed no signs of fatigue.[11] Danny himself is capable of using his powers multiple times in combat without getting tired quickly, and has spent nights rounding up ghosts[14]) | Superhuman (Same as before. Despite being beaten up by several of his rouges' gallery, chasing ghosts for hours, and getting no sleep, Danny was still capable of fighting against Pariah's soldiers without showing any signs of fatigue,[28] and spread his invisibility over an entire jet and held it throughout the night and into the day[20]), Below Average to Infinite with the Ecto-Skeleton (The Ecto-Skeleton is incomplete and drains the user like a battery when used, forcing them to use act carefully; otherwise it could potentially be fatal.[28] However, Vlad Plasmius later fixes this issue and combines the suit with a lightning rod from Technus to give it unlimited energy[44]), Infinite as Super Danny (As a full ghost, Super Danny lacks the risk of stamina loss) | Superhuman (Same as before) | Superhuman (Same as before)

Range: Standard Melee Range, Hundreds of Meters with ectoplasmic energy (Sent his energy across Casper High to contact his friends,[6] his ghost ray is shown capable of traveling long distances[9]); Varies, up to Interdimensional with Ghost Sense (His Ghost Sense is dependent on his focus,[22] and if distracted, it will not go off.[3] But while unhindered it can even alert him to ghosts before they enter through inactive portals from other dimensions[5]); Varies with Fenton Works Technology (The Fenton Works gadgets and weapons consist of close range melee weapons and long ranged energy weapons) | Standard Melee Range; Hundreds of Meters with ectoplasmic energy (Same as before) and Ghostly Wail (His Ghostly Wail should have a similar range as his future selves which shook future Amity Park[1]); Varies, up to Interdimensional with Ghost Sense (Same as before); Varies with Fenton Works Technology (Same as before) | Standard Melee Range; Hundreds of Meters with ectoplasmic energy and Ghostly Wail (Same as before); Varies, up to Interdimensional with Ghost Sense (Same as before); Varies with Fenton Works Technology (Same as before) | Standard Melee Range; Hundreds of Meters with ectoplasmic energy and Ghostly Wail (Same as before); Varies, up to Interdimensional with Ghost Sense (Same as before); Varies with Fenton Works Technology (Same as before)

Standard Equipment: Fenton Works Technology

  • Optional Equipment: The Reality Gauntlet (Season 2 only), Time Medallion (The Ultimate Enemy and A Glitch in Time)

Intelligence: Average, up to Genius, possibly Extraordinary Genius at his best showings

Danny possesses the basic intelligence for a person his age. Early on, Danny has been training in the use of his powers and precision with his aim,[11] and for his combat skills, Danny has displayed a basic capacity of hand to hand capabilities against multiple[5] and singular enemies,[15] including armed combat,[7] but due to his young age, Danny often doesn't pay attention which has led him to be caught off guard, even once admitting he needs to start paying attention during his battles[13] and calling out his own intelligence.[16] The aforementioned combined with his constant ghost fighting has also caused him to fail in class,[3][12] maintaining only a C average in grades at best. Throughout the series, Danny has maintained a notable overconfident attitude which is evident when despite being told and shown that a massive amount of ghosts were about to escape through his portal, he braced himself but immediately lowered his guard and dismissed the threat simply because the Box Ghost was the first to exist, which resulted in Danny getting momentarily downed.[28] Even later in the series, Danny himself showcases his overconfidence when explaining to his sister that he's not worried about fighting ghosts and that he simply exchanges witty banter, fight and kicks ghost butt,[45] despite the many past altercations proving otherwise.

Despite his lesser showings mentioned previously, Danny has shown to be very intelligent. Although he fails in school, his teacher outright admits he knows Danny is capable of succeeding and is proven correct when Danny actually tries,[12] Danny himself has also studied to be an astronaut and shows his knowledge by successfully landing a space shuttle by himself[20] despite being only 14 years old. Danny's father, who despite his goofy nature is a genius, who contributed to the creation of many inventions at Fenton Works and stated that the Fenton's are a family of geniuses,[3] which means he considers Danny to be at least somewhat comparable to him intelligence in that regard and Danny himself is shown and stated[19] capable of effectively using and operating the gadgets and vehicles of Fenton Works throughout the series. Regarding his analytical observation and cunning, Danny is more than willing to learn from his opponents and use their weaknesses against them to win, such as when he used Vlad's feelings towards him and his mother to win against him, with Vlad stating that Danny is learning from him.[4] Along with his friends, he's even managed to outsmart an experienced hunter like Skulker at his own game,[3] and later on in the series showcases his planning and leadership skills when he comes up with and executes a successful plan to free his and his fellow classmates parents.[19] Later in the series, his combat abilities are shown to have improved when he matched Vlad in armed combat despite the later just previously besting a group of ming warriors to prove his superiority in combat[37]

Standard Tactics:

Danny's tactics are more or less the same. However he has used his ectoplasmic energy to create bright flashes of light to blind his opponents,[24] and after learning the Ghostly Wail,[1] he uses it against large groups of enemies.[46]

After learning how to manipulate the cold energy generated from his core. Danny's ice powers became one of his go-to methods of combat. He has used it to freeze objects restricting his movements, freeze energy attacks as well as his opponents,[31] and use it as a forcefield against fire-based attacks.

Weaknesses: Standard ghost weaknesses. Early in the series, he lacked complete control of his powers which caused them to activate randomly,[5] however he improves on this. Due to his young age, Danny is overconfident and occasionally makes poor decisions. | Same as before without the lack of control regarding his powers. The Ecto-Skeleton's neural receptors aren't fixed, which causes the suit to drain his power greatly if he uses to much.[28] Creating duplicates are shown to divide his power evenly amongst them.[28] | Same as before. | Same as before. If his emotional drive is gone, his powers will grow feeble and fade[2]

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Transformation: Do to being a half-ghost, Danny can transform into his ghost form[5] and back at will. While in ghost form, he has the physiology of a ghost and has access to all the standard abilities that come with it. In human form, he may lack the physiology of a ghost, but he's still capable of using several ghost abilities while in human form.
  • Overshadowing: A common ghost power that allows Danny to take over the body and mind of his opponent. While he doesn't use this on his ghost enemies for some unknown reason, he is shown using this power on other people,[8] on multiple occasions.

Notes:

  • Note #1: Danny used the Ecto-Skeleton in his battle against Pariah Dark, which took place before he learned the Ghostly Wail.
  • Note #2: Danny seemly has the ability to vanish and instantly reappear in another place nearby. Although unconfirmed, it is suggested that this could possibly be teleportation, or he could simply be him moving while invisible, though this is atypical for the show's animation, as the audience can normally see him while he is invisible.
  • Note #3: While half ghosts can have both halves separated and survive, it is not fully known what would happen to their ghost half if the human half is killed while they are together. Although given they can merge back with the other half freely and other ghosts can leave the bodies of those they overshadow, it is possible they would be capable of leaving the body as well.
  • Note #4: The reason Danny in human form is currently scaling to ghosts is due to the fact that humans in Danny Phantom possess the same emotional energy as the humans of the past, and said energy is shown capable of empowering individuals. Danny along with several other humans have also been consistently shown capable of contending with ghosts without special equipment
