“ | Being of an immortal race, I have ever pondered what, if anything, comes after the event mortals call "death." Today, I may well learn. Whatever transpires, I will remain true to my charge, and observe all that occurs. A fitting end, I think, for the being known as--the Watcher. | „ |
~ Uatu The Watcher |
Summary
Created by writer Stan Lee and designed by artist Jack Kirby, he first appeared in The Fantastic Four #13 (April 1963).
Uatu is one of the Watchers, a highly advanced race who have vowed only to watch and never to interfere, although Uatu is rather infamous among them for breaching this vow many times. Primarily watching over Earth, as each Watcher is given a sector of space to observe, the Watcher created a Citadel on the Blue Area of the Moon. However, he can and often does watch other parts of the cosmos, following the lives of heroes and villains alike and to observe events of cosmic importance.
