A side case called Through The Looking Glass is the second mission you will receive from Throgmorton in his residence, but only after you have completed the previous quest: Delicate Matter. This is one of many side cases (quests) in The Sinking City. Be careful, you may accidentally reject this mission in conversation.

You will receive a key to the upstairs office from your case commissioner - On the other side of the mirror | The Sinking City walkthrough - Side cases - The Sinking City Guide

You will receive a key to the upstairs office from your case commissioner. You will find major evidence by using the Mind's Eye on the boxes on the desk. There you will find a safe and two clues. However, to gain experience for finding all the clues:

  1. study the letter and the photo on the boxes in the opposite corner of the room,
  2. in the corridor, inspect the masks behind the glass,
  3. spears,
  4. painting.

Finally, talk to Throgmorton for more information. With this evidence, you can continue the mission.

Go now to the east of Coverside district, to a mental hospital (marked with the proper icon on the map).

Talk to the receptionist and come down to the lower floor. That's where you'll find the evidence room. In front of the room you will find a broken mirror and a bottle. In the room explore:

  1. broken mirror,
  2. photo,
  3. dirty newspapers,
  4. note on the bed,
  5. newspaper by the bed,
  6. painted wall (use the Mind's Eye).

Now leave the room and go into the blue cloud to set the sequence of events in three steps: start with the interior of the room. The last piece of evidence to gather to gain experience for a fully completed investigation will be obtained by talking to the receptionist.

Upstairs you can still explore the mirror, drawings, and photo on the desk. Now go to the cellars. The man will warn you about a monster staying in the basement - it's not that dangerous. After beating it with a few shots, go back to the guy on the floor and get the key to the room in the basement. Inside you will find:

  1. commandment,
  2. diary,
  3. chest,
  4. the cabinet, which has to be studied with Mind's Eye,
  5. broken mirror - has to be studied with Mind's Eye.

If you have examined all the listed items here and on the upper floors, you have now collected all the evidence in this location and will be rewarded with experience. The next step in the mission is to locate the woman. Another place to visit is the police station - you need to find the address of a person who created the mirror.

Knowing the address of the mirror (Oldgrove, at the corner of Windhalf Avenue and Goldbridge Road) you can visit the place.

Come down to the ground floor to find:

  1. the newspaper in the kitchen,
  2. letters on the coffee table,
  3. the secret is in the wall next to the envelopes - use the Mind's Eye. Behind the wall you will find a small coffin to explore. Be careful because after this discovery your mental health is greatly reduced.

Finally, go down 2 levels below the ground floor. Discover a wall using the Mind's Eye to get into a secret room. Inspect the following items:

  1. coffin,
  2. photo,
  3. mirror (use Mind's Eye).

Go back to the ground floor to make a reconstruction of the events. The proper order of events is: in the basement, on the 1st floor, on the ground floor.

To complete the mission you must first destroy the mirror in the hidden room on the ground floor (with a brick or a gunshot). Then go down to the cellars where you will encounter Bethany. The dialogue begins. Now you have a decision to make:

  1. you can let Bethany finish her ritual, then take the broken mirror (the last proof in the building and most important one),
  2. take the mirror without Bethany's consent, but you have to kill her.

Go back to Throgmorton who resides in his mansion south of where you are. Apart from the disappointment of the client, when you bring him a broken mirror, you will not notice any difference in the rewards. So the decision made has no meaning at all.
