Opposites Attract #3

The Problem With Him

Rate this book
I’m over men. I’m done with them.

Or at least the ones that work in my kitchen. Fine, one man in particular. Wyatt Shaw is cocky and condescending and so far out of his element that he doesn’t know which way is up. Or how to run his brand new kitchen all by himself.

That’s where I come in. Sous chef extraordinaire. Second in command. Bane of his existence. I am the reason Wyatt’s doing so well as the new executive chef of one of our city’s most prestigious restaurants. He has me to thank for his glowing accolades and five-star write-ups. Only if you were to ask him, he’d say I’m his biggest problem.

Despite his discouragement and bullish behavior, I’ve set two goals for myself.

The first? I’m going to fight my way to the top of this male-dominated industry and claim my own award-winning kitchen.

The second? I’m going to do whatever it takes to ignore Wyatt and his rare smiles and the thickening tension that’s started to simmer between us.

Wyatt Shaw might be Durham’s new shining star. He might be up for a James Beard Award. He might be my new boss and key to my future success, but he’s also in my way.

So he can keep his smoldering looks and secret kisses. And he can be the one that figures out how to make it through service without getting distracted by me.

I’m not the problem. The problem is him.

The problem with him” by Rachel Higginson is a smack in your face, cut throat sexy and driven story about two people who’s made it their life goal to make something better of themselves. Two characters who came from different upbringings only to bond in the best way on their own turf which is in the kitchen. This was this author’s signature style of making us fall for these ambitious but pretty simple characters and this story was no different.

Kaya Swift is a hard worker. While everyone else is home by dinnertime and enjoying spending time with their loved ones or going out on dates, she’s still at work from sun up to sun down. Being a sous chef for one of the best restaurants in town, sleep will be over rated along with your personal life. Working under the executive chef who makes you want to save money for bail while stripping him down to just his chef jacket alone? Well… that’s complicated. There’s more heat happening with those two than in the kitchen but when real feelings come to the surface, who’s going to get burn?

Wyatt has spent the past few years trying to prove himself in this cooking industry. He knows he’s good but in this world, someone is always better and staying on top proves to be difficult. When he gets the chance of a lifetime to be his own boss in the kitchen, he takes it and from that moment, his future became solidified as being one of the best. But you know the saying: behind every great man, there’s a great woman and for Wyatt, she just happens to be his employee and the woman he’s wanted for years.

I loved the flow of the story and how you felt as if you were in the kitchen yourself making these exotic dishes with these characters. It felt effortless to me but at the same time I felt Kaya’s struggle with trying to find her place in the industry and what is considered a man’s world. My only issue with this one was that I felt like the relationship between kaya and Wyatt was extremely rushed towards the end and what was supposed to be a natural transition, left me confused.

Aside from that, I really love this series and I like the fact that this author is not afraid to give us some kick ass heroines who are forces to be reckon with. If you’re looking for a good series with lovable heroines, then this one is for you.

READ MY REVIEW ON THE BLOG

I was hungry 80% of the time it took me to read this book and if I wasn't hungry I was craving the yummy dishes mentioned in the story. The restaurants are described like people with their very own personalities which helped so much to imagine the places. For that alone you should make room for The Problem With Him.

But let me tell you why else this was such a wonderful read:

The heroine: if you adore headstrong, snarky heroines Kaya will have you head over heels in love with her in the first couple of pages. She's smart, ambitious, with a touch of sweet to the tart and knows she kicks major ass in the kitchen. But she also has a wary side about her, is a little fearful and insecure because she has been burned in the past and doesn't trust what men say to be the truth.
I loved my job. I loved it more than anything in this world. Except for maybe Wyatt’s job.

Life would be perfect for her ...if she had her boss's job because she thinks that she is way better at it. Sometimes she seems entitled and a little too sure of herself in the professional department ad that's a pretty strong contrast to her personal insecurities. When things start to heat up between Kaya and Wyatt she fights him tooth and nails, finds all kinds of excuses why a relationship between them would never work, ultimately though he slips through the cracks in her armor.
Everything Wyatt did was suddenly hot. I mean everything. He could have flossed his teeth and I would have worried about my panties melting off my body. It was obnoxious.

The hero: Wyatt is everything that is Kaya as well and that's why they butt heads at every occasion. He challenges her, though, accepts her the way she is, supports her and has secretly been in love with her for a long time.

Now, I usually prefer books written in dual point of few. This story is an exception though because it shows the reader how wrong your perception can be when you are insecure and you let that insecurity overshadow and question everything you do and that happens to you. I really liked that because over the course of the book my perception of Wyatt changed too. He has always been Kaya's champion and she didn't realize it until she opened herself up to him.

When I saw the first glimpses of his feelings for her I started to fall in love with him. He is witty, always has a comeback on his lips and is steadfast, loyal and oh so patient.

I adored the explosive connection between Kaya and Wyatt. Steamy! It was an extremely slow burn and the real relationship development happened in the last 30%. At that point it started to accelerate and was a little bit rushed toward the end. I would have liked to see an even progression of their relationship.
“You’re my weakness. I see you across the kitchen and I crumble. I lose my train of thought and I forget what I’m in the middle of doing. I see you and there is only you. You’re going to get me fired.”

This story shows you the busy life of an executive chef and sous chef and let me tell you, I got exhausted reading it. They pretty much work whenever they don't sleep. I have no idea how they do it.

The Problem With Him is a fun, fast read with very lovable main characters and an equally lovable side cast. The author's crisp, humorous writing style makes it entertaining and enjoyable.  This story doesn't have much angst although you'd expect it with the enemy-to-lovers trope. Rachel Higginson is becoming an auto-read fast and I'm looking forward to Dillon's book!

Rachel Higginson has blown me away again! This series is definitely one of my favorites of hers. When I read the 1st book, I fell in love with Vera and Killian. Then came Molly and Ezra and I became obsessed. I didn’t think she could top that couple...but she proved me wrong. Kaya and Wyatt are everything!! Wyatt: there just are not enough words to describe him. He’s so broody but so sweet and thoughtful. I love how direct he was with his intentions and feelings. Plus tattoos and piercing?! Ugh, he’s just perfect. But the shining star of this book is Kaya. She is one of the strongest heroines I’ve read. She is independent and unapologetic. She is constantly fighting to make her dreams a reality. She has passion and drive in spades. I never wanted this book to end, just so I could stay in her head a little while longer. I absolutely can’t wait for the next book in the series!!

I blew through this book in just over 24 hours because I couldn't put it down, if I'd been on holiday, I'd have managed it in one sitting. I have loved the OPPOSITES ATTRACT series so much and book three did not let me down. In fact, Wyatt and Kaya gave me serious Vera and Killan vibes but in a different way, so I was in a total happy place.

What was interesting about Wyatt, now Executive Chef of Lilou and his sous chef Kaya, was that they'd been fierce friends for five years but with Killan leaving and Wyatt taking over as EC, they became friends who only really fight (less of the friends). So this was a friends-to-lovers and frienemies story line that worked so well.

Kaya was the kind of feisty heroine I could totally get behind. She was driven and she was focused and yet there were occasional vulnerabilities that spoke of realness. Wyatt was a lot of these things too but he was 'yell-y' as described by Kaya and all of his staff.

"He dipped his head and looked at me from beneath lush lashes. My uterus jumped up and down in my body like it was trapped in a CrossFit session against its will."

The hot, delicious tension between these two was palpable and I observed with my mouth kind of open. The banter, the sniping, the veiled flirtation was everything. It was a slow-burn which is my favourite kind of burn and the end result was everything I wanted.

I need to speak about the cover, which isn't my favourite but covers aren't usually make or break for me. However, it did put me off a little as the previous two covers rock my world. What I am saying here is, don't let this cover put you off if you don't like it, because the words inside are addictive fabulousness.

This series is shaping up to be one of my absolute favourite contemporaries and I'm excited that there will be one more.

I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.

I Voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book

OMG i have wanted Wyatt's book since he was introduced in the first book. And i loved him, i mean the story.
Kaya is Wyatt's second in command. Their relationship is like a love-hate type. Kaya knows that she is not meant to be someone's second, she is meant to have her own kitchen and her own staff. But for now she is Wyatt's beta while he is the alpha... Which is so not good, as she is over it all, over men or more in particular him... He is too arrogant, to cocky and just too everything. (I loved Kaya) she's going to get her own kitchen, fighting her way to the top, but in order to get her dream she's going to have to impress her boss, Wyatt Shaw...

Wyatt, what can I say... I really love him. He is funny, sweet, sexy, confident and yet he has a vulnerable side to him. I loved the interactions between these two, they were funny, they didn't hold back with each but you definitely could sense the sexual chemistry. What is he going to do with this women, it's like he can't help himself. She frustrates him but he also cant deny the attraction he feels for her. And no matter what she says she can feel it too...

If you love the previous books in this series, then this one is right up your ally. It is a fun read, will have you lol, maybe a bit annoyed but for most parts, you definitely want to see these two going head to head.

This was by far my least favorite book in this series.
I don't know what's happening here. The first book was amazing. The second was pretty enjoyable. This one? There were times I had to actually force myself to keep on reading.

Unlikeable, bitchy heroine, a hero whose behavior I couldn't understand, a romance I didn't buy, too much food talk, too much inner rambling, repetitive writing.

I'm obviously in the minority here, so make sure to take my review with a grain of salt. But honestly, I just really did not enjoy this. Which is a bummer, considering I've adored most of this author's books so far.

Refreshing and fast-paced and so sweet and sexy!!

"He was everything I shouldn’t want, like, or notice. Not because of the tattoos. Or even because of the piercings he’d removed once he’d been promoted. He was the kind of guy I should have been able to ignore entirely because of how opposite we were, because of how much we hated each other."

Kaya and Wyatt are both professional chefs working in the same restaurant. Wyatt was promoted to head chef and Kaya is his sous chef. She is ambitious and driven and wants (and deserves!) her won kitchen. The problem is that she does not want to go behind Wyatt's back while chasing her own dreams.

"This rivalry had been simmering for years, and if I’d learned anything in that time, it was that he didn’t change his opinion. Not ever. Once he decided something, that was it. And he’d decided a long time ago that he didn’t like me."

These two are constantly challenging each other and trading barbs. Wyatt is gruff and Alpha and very, very direct. Kaya fights her attraction to Wyatt because not only do they work in close quarters, he is her boss and she doesn't see how she can ever work alongside him - she wants to be the head chef of her own kitchen and not an assistant.

I loved the behind-the-scenes look into the lives of professional chefs (they basically have no time for any kind of personal life!) and literally felt exhausted at the end of their shifts, just like Kaya felt. The work in a restaurant kitchen is endless!

Kaya's true passion is the kitchen. I loved how she never compromised her own ambitions or dreams. And there was no unnecessary drama in this book, which made Kaya and Wyatt's story all the more relatable and real!

"I like you because of your strong opinions. I like you because you’re feisty and sharp and unwilling to change for anyone. Not even me and I’m your boss.”

If you are looking for an adult romance with wit and passion, then you will love this book. Plus it can be read as a complete standalone. Kaya is a fantastic and driven heroine and I admire the author for writing such a strong and unflinching character.

“This is a bad idea,” I whispered, too far gone with desire to put any real conviction behind the truth. He shrugged. “I like bad ideas.”

Holding his gaze, I said, “We have that in common.”

This series just keeps getting better and that is not something that all authors can accomplish well. Rachel has done it again with this intensely passionate story about Wyatt and Kaya.

Wyatt took over as the executive chef at Lilou after Killian left. His management style is very similar to Killian, after being mentored by him for so long I guess that is to be expected. It may sound exciting and glamorous to be made executive chef but it comes with a huge amount of pressure. Lilou has a stunning reputation in the hospitality industry and is booked out months in advance. Wyatt knows he needs to keep up the level of standard created by Killian and he won’t accept anything less.

Behind every great chef is a hard working team, making sure everything is done the way Wyatt demands. No one works harder than Kaya, his sous chef. This is only a temporary thing for Kaya, she wants to have her own kitchen and be an executive chef. Being in Wyatt’s shadow is not going to get her there but it will do for now. Wyatt and Kaya have a contentious relationship, they are both hard headed, stubborn and competitive. They clash like you wouldn’t believe but Wyatt wouldn’t want anyone else by his side. He needs Kaya, she is crucial to his success.

Fifteen hour work days, seven days a week leaves little time for anything else but the drive and passion for the work they do keeps them coming back every day to do it again. However, Kaya has noticed a change in Wyatt lately, in fact she may be mistaken but she senses that he may even be flirting with her? Wyatt may be a private, moody, brooding man but he is also incredibly attractive, in the physical sense of the word but until he started flirting with her she hadn’t really noticed just how hot he is.

‘He wasn’t a bulky man, but his entire body seemed corded with long, slender muscles. He was a force of nature. A priceless marble statue. And yet the racing of his heart told me that he was also, somehow, breakable.’

As things heat up between them, Kaya is feeling conflicted about what is happening. Crossing a line with Wyatt could affect her career now and in the future. Wyatt is showing Kaya a new side of himself that she finds so unexpectedly amazing. There is so much more to him than what she has seen in the kitchen at Lilou. The depth of this man really does surprise her.

‘Wyatt had sunk beneath my skin and made a bed in the secret places of me that I’d desperately tried to hide from him. He hadn’t been willing to wait or sit back. He hadn’t even asked for permission. He’d… taken. And now I was afraid he’d never give back.’

Kaya is focused on living her life the way she wants to and realising that now she doesn’t have to do it alone . Wyatt is her biggest supporter and sharing her dreams with him now just feels so right. However, when an life changing opportunity comes her way, Kaya has a choice to make and this could make or break them.

There is so much happening in this story and plenty of cameos of Molly & Ezra and Killian & Vera which I loved ☺ Most of all I really enjoyed getting to know Wyatt, especially his heart breaking back story. There was so much more to this incredible man that shaped him into who he now was and I was delighted to get to see the ‘softer’ side of him that he saves for the people he really cares about. Looking forward to Dillon’s story next.

This review may contain SPOILERS!
Soo, it took me decidedly longer than I anticipated to finish this book. Weirdly enough, since I was really into books 1 & 2 of this series, so I thought book 3 would be just as quick a read, and don't get me wrong it was awesome and all. The problem was that I had a lot of other stuff going on in my life which is why I couldn't enjoy this book as much as I did the previous ones. Nonetheless, Kaya and Wyatt were some of my favorite characters and Rachel Higginson really knows how to build a moody and passionate main character with a certain twist, example A = Killian, example B = Ezra, example C = Kaya/Wyatt. I really love how all these stories intertwine in such a wholesome way that makes it seem like there has been a long time since the couples got to know each other and it just feels natural that they start a relationship. Same with Kaya and Wyatt, there was never a disruptive element in their relationship and it just felt irrevocable that they'd end up together. This was a sweet story, where I thought it was a nice touch that the author included the, hard fought for, star-kitchen-scene, also something that gave a little extra to the storyline. All in all, a deserving third book in this series, I loved it!

Too much focus on the heroine, I got bored with all of the excessive internal monologues
Wish there was more focus on the hero, I would’ve liked to have seen him start off actually arguing with her and then develop feelings. It felt as if he had always been flirting with her and had feelings for her and the book was just her coming to terms with how she felt about him. That really took away from his personality bc he ended up being oh so perfect and oh so boring. It had that potential to be enemies to lovers but it fell flat. So so much of the heroine just thinking about her insecurities and being scared. I actually started to enjoy the career aspect of the plot more than the romance.
Also don’t even get me started on the hero’s unnecessary tragic background story. All three books so far in the series have heroes who were foster kids and so they all are related like brothers that way and it is so lame. It would’ve been fine if they just knew each other as friends from the chef community, but instead they have some cheesy additional level of how they’re really just soft damaged men who want to find love! Blegh

The Problem with Him is not just a romance story. It has feminism and unequality on working environment. Especially on food industry.

However the pace, Kaya ( the heroine) are not really connect with me. The pace is just too dragging. In some part Kaya is just too much on doubting herself that I want to shake her. Come on, you suppose to be this tough career driven woman, but acting like little girl.

Overall I think this book can be improved more on the pace and the heroine character. I managed to finish listening to the audiobook.

DNF @ 37% The wait was NOT worth it for this book. I skimmed the majority of what I did read bc "maybe" 2 pages total consisted of character dialogue. Internal monologues are the death of an author for me. And in the short amount I did read, it is chock full of IM after IM. Shame bc I really enjoyed Killian and Veras story, but I'm parting ways with Ms. Higginson. 2*dialogue is a MUST*stars!!!!

Yet again RH so easily draws me in & I’m lost in this world-class culinary hub in NC. After reading tOoY, I confess I was pretty gung ho for Wyatt & Molly to happen. I was wrong...so so wrong. Just as with Killian & Vera, tPwH has the same disarming appeal of Kaya & Wyatt truly being seen by the other in such a way neither has truly experienced before. You can feel how equally terrified & exhilarated by the prospect Kaya was(as the story is only from her POV).

Wyatt is so much more than the humorous, cocky sous chef we met previously. Sure, he is still both of those things, not to mention broody, sarcastic, & demanding, yet Kaya illuminated the fact there was also an incredibly sweet, vulnerable & nurturing side to him. Wyatt really is a genuine good guy. I loved he didn’t flinch when it came to his feelings for Kaya.
Kaya’s complexity kept my attention. She wasn’t just this or that. Yes, part of her is fragile & still getting by with a fractured sense of self & a bruised heart, yet she’s strong, driven, clever & super talented too. Somehow all rings of it true being a part of Kaya.

After all of that, you might be wondering why not 5 stars? Until they became a couple, tPwH was a proper slow burn romance (giving the reader a full view of the journey)…or at least my idea of one. So it’s a bit perplexing how afterwards some moments I wanted the full experience of were glossed over & summarized after the fact. Not many, but definitely a few. At this point, I’m already so invested & truly in, I want all the feels when those moments unfold to change, strengthen, & further reveal how they feel about each other. Perhaps I'm being greedy, & if I am, I'm unapologetically so in this case.

This year has felt like I’ve run across more duds than true quote-unquote good reads, so from strong-willed, sarcastic barbs between frenemies to sexy, sweet times as lovers(& everything in between) was a treat overall.

I loved The Problem with Him so, so very much. Kaya was amazing. Wyatt was everything I wanted him to be and more. What started as workplace animosity built into fantastic chemistry between two characters who really were perfect for each other.

I've basically been waiting for/hoping for Wyatt to get a book since meeting him in The Opposite of You. I found him intriguing then and I wasn't wrong. While we don't actually get any time in his head, I didn't feel like I really needed it. (Though I wouldn't have said no to it, either.) He had his grumpy moments — which isn't a problem because I love me some grumpy heroes — and he was certainly complicated, but I loved him.

As much as I adored Wyatt, Kaya was the real star of the show in The Problem with Him. What a fantastic heroine! She was smart, talented and driven. It was so easy to root for her throughout this book, whether with the Wyatt situation or with her dream of getting her own restaurant. She took life by the balls and made the most of every opportunity. But she wasn't without her moments of doubt, which just made her all the more realistic to me. I loved how she matured and grew over the course of this book.

Much like with the first two books in the Opposites Attract series, I fell hard and fast for the characters and just couldn't get enough of the characters. (Bonus: lots of Vera and Killian!) Kaya and Wyatt's chemistry was off the charts and the slow burn between them was absolutely delicious. I do love the sexual tension — and everything that comes after, of course. And, as much as I enjoyed the romance, I enjoyed all of Kaya's character growth just as much.

I'm so glad I discovered the Opposites Attract series in all its delightfulness. I fall a little more in love with it with each new book. That's just one reason why The Something About Her can't get here soon enough. Come on, February!

I received a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

FAVORITE QUOTES

He was everything I shouldn't want, like, or notice. Not because of the tattoos. Or even because of the piercings he'd removed since he'd been promoted. He was the kind of guy I should have been able to ignore entirely because of how opposite we were, because of how much we hated each other.

I wanted the glory. I wanted the fame. I wanted the massive responsibility that could go up in flames in any given second. I wanted it.

"Kaya," he growled against my skin, sinking his teeth into my neck in the sexiest bite of all time. He was getting me back for the one time I'd bitten his finger. Only his way was worse. His was sex and fire and the fucking end of me.

This was what I wanted. This right here. Him. Wyatt. His touch and his taste and the wicked things I knew he would do to me.

Are you embarrassed by how much you need me? I asked him.
Not even a little bit, he'd typed back immediately. Pretty sure I've needed you for a long time.

But that wasn't a normal smile. That was sex and sin and very dirty things.

"You're my biggest weakness, Kaya. And my greatest ally. You're my biggest challenge, my biggest problem. But mostly, you're my salvation. From the kitchen. And from myself."

"...I've been trying to walk into this relationship for five years. The plan is to figure out how to get you to stay forever."

This is not only my favorite book of this series, but my favorite from Higginson to date! I started reading while suffering with a sleepless night and needless to say, I got zero shut eye. I've been crushing on Wyatt since book one and he was even more splendid than anticipated. I loved the banter and slow burn chemistry between him and Kaya. It was a well written, feel good read, with intelligent characters who actually communicated with each other. It was fun to see previous couples, but it was plainly Kaya/Wyatt's story. I can't wait to read the final book of the series.

I found Will to be an interesting side character, and I hope he's a spinoff series to come at later date?

It was alright, both mc's liked each other a lot. I just would have preferred his POV, she tended to repeat herself a lot. It got a bit dragged in between.
I admired her tenacity and hard work. She was strong in her belief that she was a good chef. I loved that she had to work to get her promotion, it wasn't like the job was handed to her. She faced a lot of ups and downs but she powered through it which I admire.

Story- 3/5
+1 for the heroine!!

Thank you Sharon J for recommending this book to me. This was an amazing read. I loved this book more than its two predecessors. I thought the story was fantastic. The characters were well-written and full of humour. Kaya is one of the best heroines that I have read. She has the passion and conviction to believe that her dreams will come true. She was very genuine and lovable as well. I really loved her sense of humour. Wyatt Shaw is broody, sweet, and sexy as hell. I thought seeing the different sides of him was great. However, Kaya stole my heart in this book. I love driven female characters who are independent, and not afraid to stand up for themselves. The romance was perfect. Their chemistry was off the charts good. The ending was perfect. I love a happy ending. I can’t wait to read more Rachel Higginson books. I am a fan of hers now. Overall, a fantastic read.

Wyatt Shaw, y'all. Be still my heart, I can't even with this growly, alpha, darn near perfect hero. This was the third book in The Opposites Attract series, so you'd think I'd be used to how deft Ms. Higginson is at writing these irresistible surly men, but I'm blown away, once again, by how much I adored Wyatt Shaw.

When enemies-to-lovers is done right, it carries a charge with it. Like there's an electrical current running through the entire storyline and it sparks and flares every time the lovers come into contact with each other. This is exactly the case with Wyatt and Kaya. The burn is slow - and I sometimes was incredibly frustrated with Kaya's reticence and many of the decisions she made (because honestly, y'all, resisting Wyatt was always futile) - but I did appreciate all the sparks that flew between them, and their incredible chemistry that nearly burned me up inside.

I also loved Kaya's character arc. She frustrated me. I didn't always connect with her. She sometimes kept me from fully immersing my heart into the story. But I also loved her and appreciated how she grew. I loved the balance that she found in the end, and the way my heart finally took flight when she figured things out and let Wyatt in. She's a prickly character - to the point where I felt like she held even me, the reader, at bay for most of the story. But in the end my heart was happy and satisfied with the way she grew, warmed, and found her own happiness.

I adore Ms. Higginson's smart, engaging writing, and The Problem With Him was no exception. It's an easy story to get lost in and one that completely satisfied in the end. Plus: Wyatt. Friggin'. Shaw. Heart-stealer extraordinaire and new favorite book boyfriend. Definitely do not miss out on him, or the rest of this beautiful story. ~ Shelly, 4 Stars

I have been super amped to start a Rachel Higginson book for so long and was so excited to jump into Kaya and Wyatt's book. Anyone who knows me knows that enemies to lovers is my JAM and so seeing the spitfire banter and sexy back and forth between these two really hit the spot. The Problem With Him was sexy, steamy, full of HOT sexual tension and the growly alpha-ness that I adore. Wyatt in particular was absolutely delicious and ALLL the things I love in a hero. He gave me all the swoons and made my heart melt throughout this whole story!!

While I loved them both together, I loved Kaya and Wyatt so much on an individual basis. I loved how ambitious and determined she was in accomplishing her dreams while also battling her own demons and her internal struggle of belonging and feeling worthy. Her banter with Wyatt was magnificent and I felt that the tension between them was palpable and singed my fingers right off the pages. His kindness, honesty and ability to make Kaya feel as she is worth it and so valuable was fantastic. He helped slay her demons and also helped her realize that she is strong and the perfect girl for him. He was heartwarming and so amazing and I might want to keep him in my pocket forever!

While I did love Wyatt and Kaya and their love story, I did feel that Kaya's prickly and headstrong attitude towards Wyatt sometimes created an unnecessary hostile environment. I loved her sass and spitfire attitude but I felt she kept Wyatt at a distance where he (and I) couldn't really connect with her. In addition, I felt like the secret she kept from Wyatt contributed to this emotional distance which also prevented me from enjoying the story to the max.

All in all though, I did love this story as I felt it was so smartly written and a joy to read. I am seriously foaming at the mouth to read Killian and Ezra's books. Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula

I received an ARC for an honest review and I loved this book! This was definitely my favorite of the series. The sexual tension and chemistry between Kaya and Wyatt jumped off the pages! I really liked learning more about Wyatt after seeing him in the past two books. He is so much more than I expected! Loved this!

This story of Wyatt and Kaya was a slow burn, it took a long time to get there, but the ending of the story was well written and finished beautifully. It kept me guessing right to the end.

Kaya is a Sous Chef and her boss Wyatt, the Executive Chef, and the rivalry between these two is strong and Kaya is certainly not happy that Wyatt got the job over her; she aims high. There is a lot of shop talk in this book so I feel that I could run my own kitchen now. I wish I could cook, or at least enjoy cooking. I was totally jealous of their creative abilities. I did enjoy reading about their life in the kitchen.

Kaya is suffering from a lack of confidence from her last relationship that didn't work out years ago. She isn't interested in trusting another man. I found it hard to work out Wyatt for a long time but once I got to know him, it was easy to love him. The other characters in this book are funny and definitely add to their story.

For me the story was too descriptive and too drawn out, I needed the story to get going, to gather pace and arrive at the good ending that was waiting. It had a lot of potential and if it had not been dragged out I would have really enjoyed it.

“My soul had been given purpose and my life had been gifted meaning.”

“His tongue was there only enough to remind me that it had the power to undo me. To totally upend me. To ruin me for other men.”

“That wasn’t a normal smile. That was sex and sin and very dirty things.”

“He’d flipped me upside down and turned me inside out and then left me to piece myself back together.”

“He defied every norm I had. He broke every rule and exceeded every expectation. He was and had been and would always be my exception.”

The Problem with Him was a ton of fun and a great read to spend my day wrapped up in. While this book is the third in the Opposites Attract Series, it can totally be read as a stand-alone novel.

The Problem with Him follows the story of Wyatt and Kaya. Kaya is the second in command and one amazing sous chef. Her dream is to one day be an executive chef like her nemesis Wyatt. Kaya will stop at nothing to go after what she wants and if that means putting up with Wyatt, then she will. Only putting up with Wyatt is harder than it used to be. The secret smiles and stolen moments are confusing and are turning Kaya’s world upside down. They’re supposed to be enemies. They’re not supposed to fall in love…..right?!

I fell in love with The Problem with Him pretty much from the first page. I was addicted and captivated by Kaya’s story. I loved her passion and drive and how utterly strong she was. She wasn’t afraid to go after her dream and wasn’t going to let anyone change her mind. And while she never felt like she really fit in with her life, cooking was the one thing she could count on. It made her competitive and strong. And Wyatt just pushed her to want more, to work harder and to make her dreams a reality…..As we get to know Wyatt, he is the kind of character you can’t help but fall in love with. Sure he’s hard on his staff, but he wants to be the best. His life has been anything but easy and cooking saved him. Wyatt doesn’t trust many people, but when he lets you in, it’s a total gift. Together these two were just explosive. The tension was undeniable and led to some of the most fun and entertaining banter. The tension just oozed off the pages and their chemistry had me begging for more. I loved how these two challenged one another and how they pushed each other to be their very best. The support, trust, and connection they shared was fantastic. I just couldn’t get enough. Their romance had a delicious slow burn and I truly loved watching these two fall.

The Problem with Him is a fabulous read from beginning to end. I loved getting lost in the characters and their story. I fell head over heels in love with Wyatt and Kaya and couldn’t help but devour their story!

I have been a fan of this series since the first book. While The Problem with Him is the third book in this series, it can be read as a standalone, however, I do highly recommend the other books, too.

Rachel Higginson has mastered the art of writing the slow burning romance. I’m not a reader who is in any hurry to get to the main event, or in this case, the main course. I prefer to take my time and let the anticipation build up to the boiling point, and let me tell you, the outcome was well worth the wait. These two characters had the push and pull, the competitive edge, the witty banter, and the chemistry that just made for an overall entertaining reading experience.

It was pretty difficult not to have a soft spot for Wyatt Shaw. While he commanded the kitchen of his award-winning restaurant with skill, dedication, and leadership, he had a soft spot for his ever-challenging sous-chef, Kaya. But she could push his buttons like no one else. Having once worked together under one of the best chefs in the country, they developed a friendly-ish relationship that seemed to thrive on their competitiveness. Now that Wyatt was in charge of the kitchen, the once co-workers were now boss and employee.

Kaya was a force to be reckoned with. She was snarky, opinionated, and knew exactly what she wanted out of life. I loved her! She knew that she had the culinary chops to make it to head chef one day, and she was determined to see herself leading a top kitchen. Even though she exuded confidence in her professional life, her romantic life was another story. If it would’ve been possible to reach into my Kindle and give her a helpful, encouraging nudge in the right direction, I would’ve. That right direction would have led her right to Wyatt.

The Problem with Him is an enjoyable read that is filled with humor, heat, and plenty of girl power. Once again, Rachel Higginson has given her readers a well-written, delectable story that makes their hearts beat a bit faster and their stomachs growl a bit louder. It’s not an easy task to read a book that is set in the culinary world when you’re trying to watch what you eat, but it was still a satisfying treat!
