At first I wasn’t sure if I could get through these 60 pages, because the heroine is a hospice nurse and currently taking care of her grandmother, who doesn’t have much time left. My own grandmother who I’m very close to was recently diagnosed with dementia, so grandmother death/dying topics in books is pretty triggering for me right now. However, this little novella packed so much heart and emotion and it had me in tears more than once. If it had been any longer, I couldn’t have finished it. But it was the perfect length for me to handle and, in a way, it was exactly what I needed right now.

I enjoyed this SO much! It was adorable and felt almost cozy despite some of the more serious topics. Usually hidden identity tropes make me so irritated, because one character is purposely hiding who they are from the other and it always becomes the third act conflict. However, in this novel that didn't happen! Both Rosie and Jane were unaware of the fact that they already knew each other online (they use screenname aliases) and when Jane is the first one to make the connection she only waits one day before letting Rosie know, even though they were still IRL enemies at that point. It was so refreshing to see a character acknowledge that it would be unfair and disrespectful to not let the other know about their online identity, so that it wasn't a conflict later on. That alone was what bumped this up to a 5 star read for me.
I've already started book 2 in the series, and Lia and Grace are also adorable together. Rachel Lacey is definitely an author whose backlist I plan to dig into now, because I'm highly enjoying her sapphic romances!

I hadn't gotten to this one last December when it blew up online, but was determined to try it this holiday season. Okay, so this is officially my favorite in the series by a landslide! Yes, it was steamy af but there was also so much emotion and some domestic moments that I felt was kinda lacking in the previous book. This also made me realize how much I enjoy the dynamic of the heroine being the dom and the hero the sub. I don't see that dynamic often, but now I'm craving similar romances!...more

I greatly enjoyed reading a romance between older characters, especially that it was a slow burn and showed that discovering aspects of your sexuality can happen at any age. I also appreciated the acknowledgement that just because you're in your 50s doesn't mean you can't still enjoy "nerdy" hobbies such as video games.
I will say that the hero's toxic family became a bit much at times and made me viscerally angry, which detracted a bit from the romance. I was also expecting this to be steamier (maybe that was just my wrong assumption from the title) but it was pretty light on the spice. Overall, it was an enjoyable read and I'll be curious to see what the author writes next! ...more

This debut was SO good! I adored the forced proximity with the live-in nanny trope, and while kids are very hit or miss for me in romances, Sophie was a fantastic character who really added to the romantic connection between Cassie and Aiden. And the steam in this! For being a traditionally published romance, I was pleasantly surprised that this didn’t hold back with giving us a lot of smut in the second half. I saw in other reviews that it got to be a bit much for some readers, but I felt like the romantic and domestic moments were still there as well, so I didn’t mind the extra smutty scenes one bit.
I’m so excited to see what this author comes out with next, because I will be reading it immediately!...more

Garrett and Mia had such great tension and banter, and I really felt for Garrett with his mental health and self-esteem issues, which were so realistically portrayed and also respectfully handled in the end. A big thank you to the author for not falling into the annoying trap of having someone magically recover from mental health struggles just because they’re in love or found a hobby as an outlet.
The steam in this was fantastic, but honestly, it was the emotional depth of the characters that made it a 5⭐️ read. Book 3 just released today, so I’m definitely picking it up next!...more

I loved how she was able to bring to life two realistic characters with believable chemistry, as well as humor, steamy smut, and the right amount of romance, and pack it all into a short novella. I also am a sucker for the forbidden age gap trope, and this delivered in a delicious way. I didn’t feel emotionally ready to read it last August when it was first published, but after a year of processing my own trauma of almost losing my father and experiencing caretaker burnout, I felt more mentally prepared and am so glad that I finally read this beautiful and heart wrenching novel.
