I have been on reading hiatus for the past few years, never had the chance to just sit down and read a book without getting distracted by the digital sphere. So, one thing I’m working on this year is to start reading again.
I’m a big fan of Ilana Tan’s works, ever since elementary school. She just has such a gift for words and I have no problem reading from start to finish, per usual.
Regarding the plot itself—I don’t know, maybe I’m getting old or this particular plot just isn’t as moving as her other work. It’s more lightweight in tone, there is no actual conflict going on. Her ‘Season’ series has much more depth in each one, and this one just fell flat for me. If you ask me, I don’t know what kind of conflict to expect either for these characters. But well, as I said, it fell flat for me.
I might have to give it 2,5 if we’re being brutal and talking plot alone, but this is the first book I’ve finished in a long time so I want to give it a fair shot. ...more

Meet Harper Simmons, a victim of a rape case who went through the everlasting process of healing. What makes her story special to me is how it’s based on a true case happened in 2015. It drew major inspiration from the People v. Turner case and retold in Winna’s own, beautiful interpretation.
This is not an emotion-provoking book for me, personally. As I am reading this from a third-person perspective, but rather, it taught me to listen and feel. To open my ears and heart to hear her story, Chanel Miller (victim of People v. Turner case) and countless others’ stories. And if that’s what the author is aiming for while writing this story, then she succeeded.
And I’m sending my love to every woman out there who has the same story as Harper and Chanel’ to tell. ...more

(view spoiler)[Kematian Arsen yg begitu tiba-tiba dan bagaimana Alice menyikapi hal tersebut untuk menutup cerita ini just does not work for me at all. (hide spoiler)]
...more

4.5 stars Seperti yang bisa selalu diharapkan dari Kak Winna, she never disappoints. Tetapi karya kali ini berbeda dengan sebelumnya.
Sebagai pembaca setia karya-karya Kak Winna selama beberapa tahun ini, I feel like she stepped out of her comfort zone with this one. It's about a girl who never fell in love before, but when she did for the first time, she ended with the wrong one. But it's okay, it's part of the process of life.
It's the charm of her writing though.
Saya akan merekomendasikan buku ini kepada semua penggemar genre YA di luar sana because this is worth your money and time.
And I found my name in it as a supporting role hahaha...more

This book is freaking amazing in its own way.
I love that this book did not play the triangle love part. I feel like the author could easily turn this story into something like Rory being insecure of herself because of Wendy so therefore she chose to let Liam go and end up regretted later to seek for him once again.
Realistis. And have I mentioned how much I love the small little details in their story?
I feel so touched by this part because I also share the same dream as him. I could feel his passion burning just like mine.
But that one makes me feel the most.
I love everyone in this book, but especially Liam. Fell in love with his character as I watched him grew from the beginning to the way he was now. Also Rory who was going through a little bit harder process in her life.

Saya sudah membaca baik Walking After You maupun London:Angel yg melatarbelakangi kedua tokoh utama kita di sini.
Kalau disuruh memilih, favorit saya adalah London, lalu Walking After You, dan terakhir Angel in the Rain. Walking After You karena perasaan bittersweet yg saya rasakan setelah membaca. Angel?
...more

Simply because I don't feel anything toward this one.
Failed as a YA, failed as a mystery. What else left here? Nothing.
...more

This is a story after all...

...more

Baru kemarin saya melanjutkannya dan.. well this book is really rich. Rich of feels, rich of words, and rich of several funny moments.
But then again.. it's the ending that matters to me. I don't quite satisfied by the way Ika Natasha ended this book. ...more
