Reread it again now and it’s still one of my favorites. I don’t think words can describe how perfect Ilya Rozanov is. If I could choose one fictional character to bring to life it would be him no contest. Shane can be a bit much sometimes with his obsession to keep things in control and plan everything ahead. Sometimes I wish I didn’t read the long game, after that book I kind of just started hating him for how he was towards Ilya, and just generally thought he didn’t deserve him. The irony being he is Canadian golden boy perfect in every way, whilst Ilya is a bad boy/ doesn’t give a fuck. Still, reading it brought all the feels like the first time I read it. The relationship is just perfect, the devotion and the love and just the length they go to protect what they have is astounding. Shane is way better here than in the last book. I don’t have the vocabulary to tell you how much I love this book and these, to me, very real people. It’s a rare thing truly to read the book and feel like you’re a fly on the wall. This is one of those, and that is why it’s on my comfort books list. Years and years of their life and love are in this book. I just can’t describe it, go read it, it’s the best. I’m incredibly sad if this is how hockey world really is now for all LGBTQ+ players. If they have to choose between hockey and being themselves, having normal life and relationships. It made me cry at some point that they have to spend decades of their life, the only life they have on this planet to hide and sneak around. It also reminded me that there are still countless countries where people could be executed for being gay. It’s a horrible reality we live in. This book shows that, and it’s a painful reminder. Shane’s parents are nice I guess his mom was a bit much but I liked how they accepted Ilya in their family and showed him how much they love him and that he has a family he deserves at last. I will make it a tradition to reread this every year.

CNC is not for everyone but you had me scared for a second there girly, with the whole beginning when Derek says lack of consent and safewords I was like YOOOOOOO!!! What is going on here?!?! But then it was just good old cnc which is consensual y’all. With safewords being used both in RL and in book. So that was a misrepresentation of Spencer’s kink. They were cute I don’t know. It just worked. And Turner is just the best little to ever exist with his boutique business and hot chocolate ...more

If you want to read it just skip the sex scenes because they are more than 50% of all three books. It’s just weird as fuck. Giving the same vibes as writing for the app thingy chapter every week or something, so there is a bunch of smut going on. Story itself is - poor student becomes a sugar baby for a billionaire. Soon he’s evicted and bullied at university. Daddy steps in saves the day. Baby has a dream to open a fancy restaurant and doesn’t want to be an incubator for some alpha, he’s telling us how since he was small he loved cooking so much it’s all he wants to do in life, become a man for himself yadda yadda yadda (side note he’s doing dual degree both in culinary and business, he wants his own business) Book two- baby steps in and saves daddy from social climbing bitch in a red dress. Book 3- random competing company sends goons to attack and intimidate baby and daddy saves the day again. At the end of book 3 and I mean at 96 ish % they realize they love each other and proffes their feelings. Epilogue- the baby opened a restaurant and after three years decided to be an incubator at last (he loved cooking so much he gave it up when the restaurant became successful and he’s now solely doing the business side he dreaded and hated throughout all three books). Splish splash of friends and family as side characters I feel like all three books are 70% sex scenes that are repetitive as fuck and not even erotic in the slightest. If you want to put that much sex at least be good at writing it....more

I love the weird relationship between the brothers, but in relation to Derek there was no chemistry, no love, no care, no respect, no nothing. Derek had a crush on them both, they were just looking for their “next one”. It was so wrong on so many levels. I get that they’re doms but from the start till the end it was just what they wanted and how to play the game to get the desired outcome. How to manipulate Derek into becoming what they want and need etc. it was weird to read especially because they don’t have a 24/7 dynamic. It’s scenes. So why aren’t they treating him like an equal and a human in general when they aren’t playing? I love you’s also dropped out of absolutely nowhere, which in this series is expected (instalove) but here it was just so fucking wrong. Love Quentin and Derek though, it was honestly the highlight of the book. And when brothers are separated. Other than that I also wanted to point out the first sex they had was exactly how they planned it out down to the positions and that felt again just so fucking wrong. Like the whole thing is just a game to them nothing else. Such a sad ending to the series for me, I absolutely loved the brothers throughout the series and expected great story for them....more

There was this confusing part that Max and Josh didn’t particularly talk in 6 years since the first scene and when they talked in the break room, but I swear there was a part in book two where it’s said that Max is helping Josh renovate his new house and that he moved out from his parents place. Needless to say I absolutely hate Josh’s mother. Can we not normalize parents crossing all sorts of boundaries?! Please and thank you. And then there is the whole pressure to have kids, randomly coming unannounced etc. while Em was okay, I couldn’t connect to Max at all, I guess because I knew they would end up together and it was disappointing in the end. I get that it’s very instalove and all, but it just all felt very superficial after they get together for real. Up until then it was flowing nicely, and from then it was all downhill. Even the spice was boring. Shame…...more
