Other than that, the book is amazing for several reasons: the vampire is a little girl (almost)-who wouldn't want to read about that, right? the vampire kills and there's no covering that up-no sexy smooth talking vegetarians here. you connect with both the kids intensely-when Oskar gets bullied, I wanted to go save him. the violence and the sadness and the loneliness just gets to you..chokes you up and keeps you reading. be warned, you WILL need Teddy Bears, if you want to get through this book with the least bit of depression the ending..well it takes the cake! I haven't seen the movie yet (any version)and will add to my review once I do.

What I liked about this book: the beginning-Rose's reaction to her cheating boyfriend is probably what every girl wishes how she'd react, if she were cheated on!
the humor in the story was done nicely.
the werewolf hierarchy was written very well as were the problems that came along with it.
i really liked Erin, not only was he cute but his reaction to finding out about the supes was exactly how a kid would react. An adult would worry over the implications or even doubting the possibility but a kid would just accept it!
What I didn't like: the book was a little too detailed-scenes like conversations on the phone or even between people could have been mentioned and done with. Instead, they were described in detail.
everybody and I mean everybody was pretty-too pretty!
the vampires didn't do it for me at all-they were too touchy feely and not the predators that I'd imagined they would be-though maybe other readers would like way they were portrayed because it was different.
there were too many characters- I get that the Fae needed the representatives of all the races but maybe a werewolf or two could have been dropped? ...more

Trent wasn't just allowed to forget everything and given Guardian status again.
What I didn't like: there were quite a few misspelled words & other errors. at times, it felt as if H.B. didn't want to be with Sam because of who she was but rather because of who she would become. the final battle with the devil should have kicked ass-it didn't! the effect that spirits have on zombies needed more explanation....more

What I liked: the beginning-it was fun and made me want to read ahead. the humor-it was light and done well. Tung's name and his butchering of the modern slang were all funny. the concept this book was based upon was quite interesting.
What I didn't like: there's such a thing as oversimplifying things-I may have liked it in other books but it bothered me in this one. the chapters constantly ended with "if x had known what y was doing, he may have been worried" and that got old after a while.
Maybe it wasn't my kinda book but it may be yours, so give it a try....more

The story intrigued me from the very beginning! It was the right amount of scary and there were parts where I was screaming at the characters for how stupid they were being– always a good sign! Then there were parts where I kept thinking I’m going to be really mad, if all of this turns out to be Mary’s imagination/sickness. The ending..woah! Scary and creepy and well done. Really want to read the next one in the series! ...more

My name is Constance and this story starts the day I was ripped apart. “ This was how the book began!
What I liked about it: the beginning, of course. the way the teenagers kept squabbling even when they got their powers– it didn’t change the fact that they were just kids. Maria and her issues made the story more believable-finding you have superpowers doesn’t turn you into a saint. the absence of any love triangles– or even a love interest. It was refreshing to read a YA book without those.
The story will be fun to read by youngsters. A good beginning to surely an interesting series. ...more

So, I started this book, just to see what it was like and then I couldn't stop reading! The events are confusing and the mystery will make your head spin but you won't wanna stop. It is difficult to understand about the different kinds of magic in that world but I think that adds to the charm. Blake made me laugh the whole time and I would have loved to know more about his teacher too. One thing that I felt was missing from the story was the professors' POV. It'd have been a good addition to the story. Everybody seemed to have their own secret agenda and the snooty attitude of the professors towards the student was really funny. The humor was really done well and I kept marking parts to share with friends. I wouldn't wanna miss the next installment! 3.5 stars to this one!!...more

The story caught my interest from the very beginning and the author created a really scary atmosphere with his words, as it progressed. This short was about Miss Locks, an independent woman who has just settled down after a lifetime of travel. As she's getting ready for her date, she realizes someone's in the house. At first, I was disappointed by the ending, thinking that the author built our excitement up needlessly. But then I realized, the drooling paralyzed version of Miss Locks could only be her fear of losing control over her own life. She was a lady who has let nothing encumber her from traveling the world-family,love,kids,job etc. Her biggest fear would be living paralyzed, confined to her bed for the rest of her life. And that's when I added another star to my rating. ...more

For some reason, I found it hard to read the first few pages of this book. I followed Frank’s journey from the airport, the phone call to Kathleen and his conversation with the cab driver, without much interest. Then he got to the apartment and bam! Everything changed. The story became a whirlwind and the action never stopped. I also liked that the author didn’t try to force a romance on us-between Frank and Maggie. Frank liked her but that was it. A few issues that I had: I never connected with Frank– I liked Max and Barney much better than I liked the MC. There wasn’t enough world building-the migrants were one topic that I would have loved to know more about. ...more

What I didn't like: The legend this book was based upon seemed underexplained- it needs a bit more fleshing out to make it more interesting. There were things that Birdie was too smart to not have seen coming, like: her dog wasn't a normal dog who Jeff was
What I liked: the humor was done really well and made me chuckle out loud quite a few times. her inner monologue irritated and amused me at different times-made Birdie feel more real. her indecisiveness when it came to Grey-really fun to watch!
all that action from the get go-even though, the book wasn't a big one, the action made it feel like an even quicker read. loved What I liked about it:
all that action from the get go-even though, the book wasn't a big one, the action made it feel like an even quicker read. loved how Catch got involved in the kidnapping. I liked how the male lead was flawed just like the bad guy and had to deal with his past every day. Loved how Hallie showed backbone and her inability to let her father go, even when she came to know who he was.
What I didn't like: the little alien girl- that part was just sprung on us.
I'm so sure Stark isn't dead and am hoping we'll see him again, if there's a sequel. The govt. lady letting Catch and Hallie go seemed improbable but again, if there will be a sequel.. A fast paced thriller and I liked it!...more
