Audio Review: This is one of the best Christian books I have read on dating. The advice was Biblical (though I would have preferred more Scripture in the beginning chapters) and the author had a fantastic dry humor with good examples to back up his points. None of his advice was anything that I hadn't heard before, but it was a good reminder.

Since the book(?) was so short, the information was very introductory. I also have to say that there was a lot of name-dropping of cathedrals that I was not familiar with. If I knew more about them, I could have enjoyed it more.
I will admit that I was quite bored in the beginning of this book, and no, it had nothing to do with the book itself. I'm just not a fan of the Salem Witch Trials part of history. I found the 1912 timeline significantly more interesting simply because it wasn't 1692. That being said, this book eventually drew me right in and after the 50% mark, I couldn't put it down as the stakes got higher and higher for the characters. I was quite fond of Hope as she had a lot of character growth throughout the story. She started off as quite selfish and through the trials she went through, slowly started to soften and change. I will eagerly be waiting for the next installment of the series.

I started listening to the audiobook and didn't stop until I finished it. Brianna was a piece of work, let me tell you. That said, I am glad her story ended as it did. Note on the audiobook: There were many editing errors with sentences being repeated twice in a row. One more listen-through before release could have improved it greatly.

I will say that the first 60-70% of the book was quite dark. Everything that could go wrong seemed to go wrong and I was losing hope in the book. Rivers got quite heavy-handed with a particular topic, and I didn't like that. Not because I disagree with what she was saying, but just because it was too much foreshadowing. I felt like I was being hit over the head with it. And then the climax of the book happened. The women were finally locked up together without being able to leave and they addressed their issues. It was emotional and sad and healing. There were generations of women who all had dysfunctional relationships with each other that needed to be mended. I also liked that Marta's secrets came out even though she was gone. AND THAT ENDING. That is literally all I can say without spoiling anything, but yeah, if you know, you know.
