My heart is still pounding from all the action!!! One Huge Epic Fight!

Also, my heart is a little broken now. I was expecting what happened but not the way it happened.

Dresden, you have done it again! I can’t help but root for you. You make yourself responsible for everyone and you want to keep everyone safe.

This time Chicago and its people, human and supernatural lives are all at stake. The Fodor and Ethniu, the Titan, are coming to destroy it. The White Council, the White Court, the Summer Court, the Winter court, Marcone with his people, the Knights, the werewolves, and every other group I forget are all taking a truce and battling one enemy together. If not, there won't be a next day for many of them. Apocalypse is in the mirror.

There were so many things l liked about Battle Ground. I want to tell you but then I'm spoiling it for you. Few comments though:

I know Dresden doesn’t care for Marcone but I kinda like him. I like Mab too despite her being utterly terrifying but I can't help but think about what she went through to become what she is now.

I love Waldo and Michael. They have Harry’s back Always. Sanja made me laugh, especially at the end.

Despite Dresden loving Murphy, I still have hope for Dresden and Molly (you're my girl) although I like Lara too.

I do hope this time Jim Butcher doesn’t take six years for the next book. I’m dying to see what happens next. Jim leaves so many clues as to what is to come and it seems Dresden will need 365 days to figure it out.

The adorable Christmas story at the end of the book was perfect. Anything with Mouse, Michael, Molly, Mab, and a little Christmas spirit together, has to be good.

Cliffhanger: No

Brooke Good review but I’m going to disagree on the not ending on a cliffhanger part. While it certainly wasn’t a cliffhanger like Peace Talks, it was one in regards to the fate of some characters and a certain super villain. I’m left feeling more on a cliff than any other book so far.

Jess I found it a satisfying read, too, although I have to tell you that the short story set at Christmas has been out and free to read for years - but I'm glad they included it at the end, too, for those readers who may not have known that.

Reading it before this novel and rereading it after were very different experiences, anyway.

I get what you mean. I took it more like there are things on the horizon for the next few books.

I had no idea Jess. I agree with you, reading it after makes more sense.

Tian Gao I always liked Harry and Murph better as friends than lovers, Harry and Molly is kind of cringy to me, but I'm really feeling the chemistry between Harry and Lara after Peace Talks. This is still one of the case books, I can't imagine what the final big-A Apocalyptic trilogy is going to be like.

I do like Lara a lot. She has always made an entrance.

Kaitlin Great review but I can’t deal with Harry and Molly that would be icky. I loved Murph as his partner but as soon as Nicodemus crippled her it seems inevitable. I wish, after 15 books of build up, we got to enjoy them as a couple and Harry being happy for a little while longer. Now Lara and Harry could be interesting. Chemistry there for sure.

It took me a while to like Murph as Harry's HEA but now I don't think it can happen. I do like Lara and Harry.
I think Molly would be a good choice too. They are only like a decade apart now.
The mantle is lost on Halloween, so maybe JB will do something around that time.
