Thanks, Czarny! I think that their stories should be told, and am glad that she includes the details.

Calzean She has a way of exposing people's experiences in such a supportive manner.

Valerity (Val) I read a very similar book, but with a different title. I'll have to look it up now, makes me curious. I loved it.

Edit: I found the book and I think she's the other lady on the cover. Here is the book I read: Lady Death The Memoirs of Stalin's Sniper (Greenhill Sniper Library) by Lyudmila Pavlichenko

Exposing like a photograph.

“Once again about the same thing . . .I’m interested not only in the reality that surrounds us, but in the one that is within us. I’m interested not in the event itself, but in the event of feelings. Let’s say—the soul of the event. For me feelings are reality.

And history? It is in the street. In the crowd. I believe that in each of us there is a small piece of history. In one half a page, in another two or three. Together we write the book of time. We each call out our truth. The nightmare of nuances. And it all has to be heard . . . “

Joe Krakovsky I would like to read this Lori. During WWII Russian women served as fighter pilots, nurses (in combat), snipers, partisans, tank crew members, and any where else they were needed.
