Caution: Rated R for adult content 🔥🔥🔥
This book follows Queenie, a girl struggling with her mental health after a breakup. While I empathized with her anxiety troubles, there were other parts that just had my head shaking. 🤔 She struggles to be alone and she sleeps around, a lot. Her escapades are obviously careless and don’t always turn out so well. 😬 Truthfully, she’s a train wreck. Can we all agree, that unprotected casual sex in 2020 is just plain stupid? 🤦🏼‍♀️

Elinor Yes we can, and I’ll give this one a pass 😉. Thank you for sharing!

As if HIV, STDs, HPV wasn’t enough, let’s add COVID to that mix as well, LOL. I just felt this was beyond careless. The point was, Queenie knew it was bad behavior and wanted to get better, which is good. But come on, it’s not the 70’s... we all know better!! ❤️📚

Rick Brose There are mental health conditions like bpd that aid in people making poor sexual choices like having unprotected sex, so it isn't so cut and dry. Just keep that in mind when trying to empathize with those outside our own experiences.

That’s the thing about reviewing works of fiction- it’s all about your own experience, your own interpretation and your own opinions. My thoughts and feelings about this work of fiction may not be the same as anyone else’s and guess what, that’s okay! Read it and form your own opinion. ✌️❤️📚

Joe Krakovsky Yes, I agree with you on this one, Danielle. Some people don't have any common sense at all, especially sleeping around now!

I appreciated that the character knew her behavior wasn't good and sought out help, to curb her problems.

Summer We’re paying for people to have prep - medication to keep them safe from HIV when they have unprotected sex. Funded by the NHS. Although it’s pretty mostly gay men, they can’t discriminate against women. Although I think they kind of discriminate with their criteria. The message on unprotected sex is really mixed these days.

Summer But yes, in 2020, it’s a properly stupid thing to do!

There are just people out there that are self destructive and/or are so depressed that they don’t care about anything or anyone. Sad. But true. Stay healthy!! ❤️📚

HansBlog „Can we all agree, that unprotected casual sex in 2020 is just plain stupid? 🤦🏼‍♀️„

Yes we can. And if you’d like, we could agree on oodles of other stupidities along the way.
One very small example: a date from OKStupid irl doesn’t look anything like his profile pics… she didn’t care to Skype-check on him, stupid…
… and later she has the clever idea to request an online-dater‘s current photo next to an uptodate newspaper - instead of, again, verify him on Skype. That was very much possible in this novel’s narrated time.
And this is just 1 tiny of many flaws the protagonist is burdened with.
