I started skimming after 40% and finally lost interest by 68%.

I loved Eric–and kudos to Olivia Cunning for having the courage to give Eric the sexual problem (view spoiler) he had. It was brilliantly done and she made me LOVE him even more! Sadly, I did not care for the heroine, Rebekah. I was disappointed that she kept pining for Trey instead of Eric. I felt he deserved someone better; someone who had eyes only for him! To be fair, though, Rebekah may have been able to make me a believer in her love for Eric had I finished the book.

I've said this many times before, and I will continue to say it. It's a shame the publisher released this series out of order. By doing so, this story had the wind taken out of its sails, so to speak, which subsequently left the book feeling a bit redundant and out of place. That's because I had already read Double Time–the book that should have been the last in the series as it wrapped up each couple's HEA. What a shame!

With all that said, and even though I lost interest in this particular story, if you're looking for well written, heavy on the steam (just think porn) Rock Star Romances, you CAN'T beat Olivia Cunning. She has a way of capturing the ambiance of a rock band like no one else.

Lisa Nice honest review Kristen. From the lukewarm reviews I've seen so far it doesn't sound like a book I'd enjoy.

message 2: by caren (new)

caren A bad heroine can kill a book for sure. Thanks for the review, Kristen!!

Allison ❤️Will Never Conquer Her TBR❤️ Nice review Kristen. I had to also put this aside. I wasn't getting into it. I'm only about 25% in but her pining for Trey has put me off. I hope to get back into it but the story isn't capturing me. I'll try to go back at a later date but no too hopeful... and I LOVED Eric in the other books.

Gitte TotallyBookedBlog Great honest review Kristen! I felt the same about the heroine, I didn't like her at all, even after finishing the book, and the fact that they were published out of order had a big impact sadly. :(

Ingie Nice and honest review, Kristen! I've only read the first book yet, but I agree with you: ...for well written, heavy on the steam (just think porn) Rock Star Romances, you CAN'T beat Olivia Cunning. As true! Sad to see it didn't work well, better luck with another book. :)

Lana ❇✾DG Romance❇✾ Sorry for the DNF. But I completely agree with you that having these books released out of order completely killed things for me.

I absolutely agree! I just don't understand what they were thinking! And I wish they'd explain their decision. It might make me feel better about continuing the series.

Thanks Lisa. The books are actually really good (if you like really, really steamy erotica), but the publisher published the series out of order and it sorta ruined the books for many fans of this series.

Thank Caren. I'm a very hero centric (I love Jill's term) reader. Very few heroes can ruin a book for me but terrible heroine can destroy one for me. Sad but true. Lol.

Thanks Summer. They're all released now so you can read them in order. GR has the series listed in chronological order. Here's the reading order. Backstage Pass, Rock Hard, Hot Ticket, Wicked Beat, Double Time

Thanks Allison. I know just how you feel. I just couldn't stay focused on the story so I finally just gave up. I hope when you try it again, you'll have better luck.

Thanks Gitte. Dang! I was hoping the heroine would have ended the book in a better light. I just HATED that she kept pining for Trey when Eric was such an awesome character and was crazy about her. He deserved someone who was just as crazy for him. It breaks my heart that he wasn't given someone more into him.

It really was a shame the publisher released the books out of order. In a sense I was emotionally done after Trey's book.

Exactly!!! Why on earth did they release Trey's book third when his book was written to be the last story in the series. I just makes no sense.

Vashti Great honest review Kristen.I love my heros more than my heroines that's for sure.A horrible heroine can really make or break a book for me.I only read the first 2 books in this series so far and the couple of Sole Regrets shorts.

SueBee★bring me an alpha!★ So sorry Kristen! = / Your review explained very well. I haven't started on this series (yet)!

Diaries of 2 Thick Chicks I never made it through the first book, it was just TOO much for my taste.

Gotta This book was my wake-up call about this series :/

message 24: by Lisa (new)

Lisa I've read the other books in the series and enjoyed them but from the reviews I can tell I definitely would not like Rebekah enough to read the book.

That's great that you haven't finished the series yet. You can now read the books in order. ❤

Thanks SueBee. Olivia Cunning writes the best rock star romances. No one does it better! If you choose to read these book, you'll get the chance to read them in order. Lucky you!

I can understand that. These books are hard core erotica. They're not for everyone. ❤

I'm not fully sure what you mean, Gotta. Was this book you're first taste of Olivia Cunning? If so, I can understand if the book didn't work for you. Olivia Cunning is pretty hard core erotica. ❤

I know some liked her but I just hated that she kept pining for Trey. When I finally quite the book, she still had her obsession with Trey. So not cool.

Heather OMG! That's exactly how I felt! I felt like Eric was her THIRD choice. After Trey and Isaac. I was never convinced that she actually LOVED Eric. I didn't like the heroine at all.

Denise ~The Procrastinating Book Diva~ Great review Kirsten. I know you like this series so it had to be a tough one to write. However, your sentiments seem to mirror those of countless other reviewers - Eric deserved so much better than to be relegated to booby prize status :(

Fortunately for me I decided to read the books in order and waited for Eric's book to be released before reading Trey's. However, unfortunately for me, I'm now not sure I'll even finish the series.

Didi Sorry you were disappointed Kristen. Stopping while you're ahead has merit for everyone, especially writers, lol!

texxie-PRUFreads.blogspot.com I managed to stick with it but I totally agree about Reb. Didnt care for her or her need to be "seen", didnt add layers to the charter, just slutted her up even more.

That being said, eric...♥ trey...♥

Christy I HATED that this series was released out of order! Drove me nuts! Sorry this one didn't work for you hun, I hope your next read is better! xo

I was hoping Reb convinced readers in the end that she had eyes only for Eric but most of the reviews I've read felt she never convinced them that Eric was her first choice. Very sad considering how awesome Eric was.

This review was very difficult to write because I love the characters in this series and it sucked to mark this one as a DNF. I have loved every single one of the girls introduced to this series but this book's heroine Eric deserved so much better. Who knows, maybe if I hadn't read Double Time and didn't know who Trey ended up with (I loved both of them ;) I may have felt differently about this book. I really think you should finish the series though. You're prepared for this book now and I really think you'll like Trey's book. <3

You are right, her need to be "seen" and alway pining for someone else, really did make her seem more slutty than anything else. I adored Eric and just wish a better heroine would have been written for him. She was pretty awesome in Double Time so maybe that's what make her behavior in this book so horrible for a lot of readers. Thanks Texxie.

texxie-PRUFreads.blogspot.com I havent read Double Time yet so good to know there is a chance I wont want to throw her into traffic as I did with this one. ;-)

Thanks Lisa. I've had a few DNF but I try to stay away from book I know won't work for me. It just sucked that this book was one of them. I have loved all the characters in this series and was shock that I did not like Reb considering how much I liked her in Trey's story. Oh well...moving on.

I know!!! I just don't understand why the publishers published the books out of order. It makes no sense to me why they would do that. I'm glad Cunning isn't publishings Dare's book/series with a Publisher.

I have to wonder if she'll be allowed to use the Sinner characters in Dare's book. She may not own the rights to these characters and the publisher may not allow her to use them.

Krystin Ya :( I waited until they were all released to finish reading so I haven't gotten to Double Time...yet. I finished this a few days ago and ill say I still wasnt impressed and that I NEVER got into Rebeka. She was just crap to me. And I hated that through out the book Trey kept pointing out to Eric how he "gave Rebeka to him" that just served as a reminder.
