[image] Fractured faery tales and contemporary reimaginings of the classic fables have proliferated over the last several decades. Perhaps marked by the playfulness of postmodern revisitation, traditional narratives have seemed a ripe harvest for glea ...more |

“Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it. I answer all my children’s letters — sometimes very hastily — but this one I lingered over. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, “Dear Jim: I loved your card.” Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.” That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it.”

Thanks, David! I'm glad to hear you've found some great books out there. That's really the best thing I could ever hope would happen from my participation here.
I'm honestly wish I had more time to devote to reviewing books. The last couple years have been very busy for me between my actual job and then doing illustration work and spending the last two years creating comics and enjoying my family. I've kept up a trickle's pace of reviews (roughly one per month) at my site Good Ok Bad, but have fallen down on porting them over to Goodreads.
I plan on bringing them over soon and hope to continue adding a review or two per month. It's not much, but it's still something, right?
If you'd like to check out Monkess without having to buy it, you can see the whole thing on video here: https://vimeo.com/125881408

Glad to see you back on Goodreads. You're one of the best reviewers here, and I was sad to see what was your (apparent?) hiatus from reviewing. Your reviews have led me to read literally hundreds of books the last three years.
Congrats on Monkess, too! Fantastic! Can't wait to read.

I wanted to post in the ebook discussion group to Brad that I am old fashioned as well. Reading from stone tablets is much more practical and the best way to read... and while we are at it maybe start wearing tights and money bags on our belts and go back to a feudalistic society!
Good luck!
