Didn't like this one. The story is interesting, and the mystery fascinating, but the narrative is unfocused, the logical connections tangled, and the protagonists' love feels totally unbelievable. In fact, the novels reads like the first draft, with ...more

DNF I'm disappointed. I loved this author's two previous novels, and I had high expectations for this one, but it wouldn't absorb me. Wouldn't keep my interest. I'm on page 87, about one-third in, and I'm utterly bored. The problem is: the heroine, Al ...more |

3.5 stars Yes, this book definitely worked for me. The characters are interesting and the mystery unusual. I'm so glad I still have a lot of this writer to read: her stories hit all my sweet spots. I have finished several of her series so far, and I s ...more |

DNF I expected to love this fantasy, but I didn't. I DNFed it after 5 chapters. I did skim to the end and read snatches of text here and there, especially the ending. So I know what happens and I know some of the events in the middle. But none of it i ...more |

Lovely. I really love this series. In this book, Lord Julian's mother asks him to find a few old letters that had gone missing from her traveling desk. She is at a house party, and Julian joins the party to search for the letters. His investigation, ...more

3.5 stars A great mystery romance from one of my go-to writers, whenever I need a dose of good cheer. The time of the story is the middle of the 19th century. The hero is a Hungarian, a penniless refugee from their failed revolution against Austria. N ...more |

A quiet regency romance. Despite the slow pace and the lack of excitement, I enjoyed this gentle and serene story. I guess, I was in the mood for it. The protagonists haven't even met until 50% mark on my Kindle, but almost from the beginning, they e ...more

LOL. Yeah, critique is always more fun to read than praise, although I must admit I rarely write reviews for books I dislike. I tend not to finish them.

Hello Olga, thank you for the compliment on my reviews. I hope you enjoy them, even when they are scathing (perhaps even especially when they are scathing).
Thanks for the request, and it's nice to meet a fellow daydreamer :) I'll be checking out your reviews too.
Hi, Kyra.
