By Deanne Durrett
The Rouge Trust is a story of hope, courage, love and community. We begin with mystery delivery of 14 roses to Becca, a widow with a teenage daughter. The roses have a note attached that triggers a memory from Becca's childhhod. Unraveling the story behind the card and roses Becca face an opportunity to be wealthy immediately. We see her struggle with a decision on taking the money knowing her life and her daughter's will forever changed.
Durrett weaves mystery, suspense, and intrigue throughout telling us this story. And she does is such a way you are never bored with the story, never feel everything is rote, and you certainly do not want to grab a book mark and wait until later to finish. She has a beautiful, unique and inspiring story intwined with all this of a war hero and those who served under his command.
Durrett has an easy going writing style and the pace is much like a lazy afternoon. She develops her characters well making you want to get to know. While this is Christian fiction it certainly is not the sterotypical Christian fiction. We are not surrounded by angelic characters spouting off Bible verses all the time. We see characters who are realistic with a faith that is part of who they are and influences their life choices and relationships.
Excellent book. My first to read of Durrett. Hopefully it will not be my last.… (more)
